So, this snow has been getting me quite excited about ice/mixed this year. I've been eyeing the conditions around RMNP, but it seems that most of the routes are not in prime shape, and I have no desire to slog on up there for half a pitch of decent ice.

That being said, I have the feeling it is going to be a fat winter and am excited to get going now!! So,... who is up for heading to Vail for a little drytool/thin ice (if any) action this Sunday the 1st?) A short approach and some fun climbing to get back into the swing of things.

Mr Jason Walton, or how bout Mr Larson? Any takers? I just sharpened all my tools!!!

Lemme know, it'll be fun, I promise!!

You're preachin to the choir brother. I've been out a coulple times already. No days to write home about but out none the less. We're going to head out to Vail tomorrow (roads permitting). I know it short notice and a weekday but you're welcome to join us out there.
I'll send you a pm with some contact info.

Still planning on heading up to Vail? What time is the bus leaving?

I might be able to head em up as well. Got some mixed in last weekend at Lincoln and could go for some more.

Do you want to meet up somewhere in Boulder and get going around 7 a.m. (remember, we get an extra hour tonite!)

That way we could meet up with Jason and Mike at the Park N Ride by 70 at around 8 and be in Vail around 10:30 ish. By the time we get up to the main area, we should have like 5 or 6 hours of climbing!!!

At any rate, feel free to e-mail me, (although I don't have a computer at home) or call at 303-903-7564. I work tonite at the REI til 9:30, but feel free to give a shoutout so that we can plan some mixed climbing!

If I don't hear from folks by tonite, I'll do a little late nite telephone harassment... ;-)

You & I are square Dan, see you at 8. Chris - We're meeting at the NE park & ride at I-70 and Morrison road. I'll be in a blue xterra w/thule bars.

I know, I'm a bum, but could someone please bring a camera if they have one? (a.k.a Jason or Chris.) It'd be nice to get a few pics to post some conditions reports and just for fun. So psyced about the drytoolin' pull down action manana!
