Hey all,
I'm going to Thailand this winter to get my send on, and wondering what the best literature would be for the pre-trip drooling. Anyone have some good beta?

Ditto. I had the Lightner guide my first trip there, and it was adequate, but I personally thought that Wee's guide, particularly the hand-drawn topos, got me to the cliffs and climbs quicker and more accurately.

I just got back from a six month trip of Asia and with it a few months in Thailand. Sam's book is nice with photo topo's and great route information. It's actually fun to read. Has great stories and so forth. There is one big but, it's out of date. There is a lot of route information the book is missing. The other option is Wee's Climbing school guide. You can buy it when you get to tonsai or railey. It's a great book, all the topo's are hand drawn but most people seem to find it easy to understand. And it's reprinted like every two years. Much more up to date. Hmmm..Hope that helps

Im going over for the month of Nov, from my research it seems the Sam Lightner guide is what most people reccomened.

When are you going? This is my first time over there and will be alone; so tring to line up some partners before I get over there. PM me if youd like.

My advice - make sure you get the most up to date guide available.

Due to the corrosion issues and the fairly massive rebolting efforts, it really helps to know which lines are good to go and which ones are ticking time bombs. I had the old King book before I went and it was pretty out-of-date when I got there.

You may want to just wait until you get there then go out and buy the most recent updated thing you can find - there are several little shops where you can get a book.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
