i heard the cables come down on halfdome after Columbus day whats the next best way off snakedike?

I think they just take the posts down and leave the cables up, so you can hand-over-hand down. Maybe throw in some gloves?

Or bring a prussic loop and slide it down, it might give you some piece of mind!

You can still rap off the cables, they'll just be lying on the slab.

Be very careful if it begin to rain. Sadly, I know someone who passed away trying to desend the cable route in the rain. She sliped and rolled all the way down. She was not roped or harnessed in anyway.

I did Snake Dike after the cables were "down" last year. The descent down the cables isn't bad, although I can imagine that rain would change that. If it's wet, maybe think about rapping off the large eye bolts securing the cables. . .
