You can get a job but who knows what. Lots of turnover in the restaurants. I'd be working in a bike shop out there but you probably need prior experience or connections to get that job in the winter. I have some buddies who've lived in the long term campgrounds for pretty cheap and you can make a pretty nice home out of it. It won't attract the ladies but it's nicer than living in van. Also winter is the slow season until spring break kicks off the hordes arriving and my departure until fall/winter.

Beautiful there in the winter though. I make frequent cycling training trips and rarely see a soul outside of town. White rim in Dec-Feb is desolate and awesome.

you would probably earn more money grinding up ephedrine or sudafed for the leading local industry out there.

Moab is awesome in the winter! I have a rental property there (tri-plex) and I believe at least 1 of the units is available (1BR1BA). Send me a PM if interested and I can put you in touch with the property manager. They might also be a good resource for job availability -- as Chris says many of the restaurants are closed down in the dead of winter, but there is always work for those who can think creatively! Good luck and happy climbing!!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
