Has anyone done the Salome Jug around this time of year? I've read some beta about may/june being a good time to go through it. Anyone have a condition report of know where to get one?

Thanks!

I have done the Salome Jug at least four times. Right now the water flow will be very limited. The best time in my opinion is mid to late May because usually the water temps are cold (60 degrees or so) , but the air temp is warm. Also, in May the water level is such that you can make it to the rap station without being swept over the 30 foot drop (April some times has too much flow to make the rap safely; I've know of people having to turn back at that point in April.) If you go now, the water will probably be stagnant, especially in the lower two very large pools. The water will be very scummy. There could be a few dead thingys floating about, too. The water will not be flowing enough for the natural water slides, etc. Later on, the monsoons could provide a flow, but also a flash flood, and that is not the place to be if that may happen. There is a large column of rock that is 35 feet high and about 30 feet in circumference that fell over due to a heavy flood last year. At this time of year, give Christopher Creek at try. PM me if you want some further info, or might want to head up to Christopher Creek (beautiful water, a 50 foot rap, nice 20 foot jumping cliffs, and a 35-40 foot jump if you want it. I am planning on hitting Christopher Creek on July 25th with some friends, if you might be interested.

Also looking to do a few canyons down on Mt Lemmon and up Sedona way if you are interested. I need to have a shuttle to make those happen ,however.

Cheers!

Seven Cataracts on Lemmon is a good day. Start at the far right end of windy point overlook and head right and diagonal down into the canyon and then follow it down the cataracts. 5-6 raps, longest is ~130ft. Come out where it runs into Bear canyon and the Seven Cataracts pullout. You really don't need a shuttle, I've hitch-hiked it twice in far less time than dropping a car. Show a rope and any climber will pick you up.

I always wanted to do Palisade Canyon but moved away before I had the chance...

Thanks for the beta as this is a canyon I'm looking to do probably in July/August, if the weather permits. Daryl, let me know if you'd be interested in doing this with me some time. I've got some 55 meter doubles we can use for this.

Sounds great. I sent you a pm earlier with contact info, etc. Been looking for a similar but less strenuous activity to occupy myself with until my pulley tendon injury heals. :/

Yeah yeah, Mike... i was hoping you wouldn't find me down here...lol
