Anyone want to train with me for an Indian Creek trip this fall?
I love crack climbing and would like to find some more folks who are similarly obsessed. (Either a one on one partner, or a clan of climbers who is already going out regularly and has room for one more). It would be nice if you are able go out multiple times a week (including some weekdays) and are also free to take a few climbing trips around the Four Corners region. I have been involved with climbing for 13 yrs so I'm a solid belay and a safe partner. I did have an injury a while ago, so this being my first few months back in the saddle, I am climbing around 5.9 right now but it's coming back fast. Right now I am based in northern New Mexico, but I am up for travel within the 4 Corners to meet up for a climb.
Looks like from your ticklist that you've at least been up to the Los Alamos/White Rock area. We have a great and friendly climbing community up here with people of all ability levels. If it is convenient for you, I would head out to one of the mountaineers Tuesday/Thursday top roping sessions lamountaineers.org/index.html which are good fun and will almost certainly have compatible partners.
Sierra, I'm am really looking to get better at crack climbing. I took a few trips to Indian Creek and Moab last season and thought it was great. I followed a bunch of 11's without falling, but need to practice leading more. I really don't care about what level of crack climbing I do, I just need to practice plugging gear. I've been climbing mostly sport for about 15 years. I try to climb during the week (twice) and then every weekend, of course. I'm in Los Alamos. I have no steady partner, so I always welcome a safe belay.
Hey all y'all (seirra, Daniel, Steve whoever else) Me and a partner are going up to Tres Peidras Sat. Aug. 22. There's room in my car for at least two more. We'll be getting on easier stuff.
And Seirra, I'd would love to plan a few long weekends at Indian Creek.
