The results of my independent poll show that Bowling is more dangerous than sport climbing.

I would like to know more about your independent poll. I have been reading stories and posts, and it seems like anybody who climbs gets hurt. I have a question, how long did you climb before you had to go to the hospital? not only would it suck, I really can't afford it.

so lets have a dependent poll here.. how long did you climb before you got hurt?, how long have you climbed and never got hurt? what can I expect getting into this sport?

-pics of trophies are welcome

i tweaked my wrist bouldering and it hurt for a while, but i never got it checked out and it's fine now, so i don't really count that as an injury. that said, i guess i've gone for about five years climbing regularly (at least twice a week without more than a few months off) without injury.

You boys are so cute when you are young and cocky.

Here is your second entry... sort of... on your poll, njsmail:

1988 - 20 yrs old, bouldering off and on for roughly two months when I fell off a route in the Wasatch, landed badly and ripped tendons on the outside of my left ankle. Put my boots back on, tied 'em tight and tried to "walk it off". My ankle was f*d up for about two years after that. According to Mr. Martinuzzi's criteria, it doesn't count since I never saw a doctor for it.

ouch. i think i would count that.

my 'hurt' wrist didn't keep me from climbing aside from the occasional extra day off, so i factor that into not counting it as an injury.

also, i do my best to be as cute as possible at all times (hence my climbing outfits matching my harness, cams - they're all the same color - 'biner's, rope, and draws), so thank you, Jo.

I’ve had a couple of overuse injuries over the years (both bowling and climbing) but nothing more than discomfort or a small amount of pain. A friend of mine hurts himself once a month, I keep telling him to just give it up.

All my climbing injuries have really hurt my bowling score.

I would have to agree. I bowled for a while and got pretty good, bolwing as high as 235. Then one day while bowling a game I hurt my wrist. Went to the doctor and had a MRI done. I had a TFCC (triangular fibrocartilage Complex) tear. Basicly ripped some cartilage under my ulna bone. Very painfull. Hasn't bothered me to much in climbing but I can't bowl anymore.

Are we talking tenpin or candlepin? Candlepin is easier on the body, but harder on the mind.

Once I figure out how to invert my golf score with my bowling score I am gonna be a freaking monster.

In a quick 30 second google search, I wasn't able to find any real statistics, but it does appear that there is certainly a nonzero amount of Nintendo Wii-related injuries (most likely to be overuse type injuries, probably a few related to missiles [i.e. flying controllers.])

I can't help but wonder if that nonzero amount of overuse-type Wii injuries is greater than the number of overuse-type injuries sustained from rock-climbing.

Yes but how many of them are from the Wii Rock and Roll Climbing game and how many are from the Wii bowling game?

What's this day of rest shit? What's this bullshit? I don't fuckin' care! It don't matter to Jesus. But you're not foolin' me, man. You might fool the fucks in the league office, but you don't fool Jesus. This bush league psyche-out stuff. Laughable, man - ha ha! I would have fucked you in the ass Saturday. I fuck you in the ass next Wednesday instead. Wooo! You got a date Wednesday, baby!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
