I'm coming home to Jersey for a month 6-12 thru 7-18 to do some climbing at the Gunks, Rumney and the Del. Water Gap. If anybody knows these areas will be around, let me know! Also I was hoping to get some good guide books... any suggestions??
Thanks,
Josh S

Josh,

Look at the Partners section on this site, in the Eastern and Southern States section. You'll find some postings there for areas you mentioned.
In Jersey you can get guidebooks at Campmor. They have many more in the store than they list on their website.
Your other option for guidebooks is to stop in Rock and Snow on your way through New Paltz.

If you're lucky the new Rumney guide will be out by then.. will be at the Calm Post next to the parking lot and the General store down the street.

For Gunks, Grey Dick is pretty much the decided winner over Swain correct? (if anyone disagrees i have a Swain i'd trad for Grey Williams )

I think most would agree that they Grey Dick is superior to the Swain guide..more thorough and better pictures. However, until people are able to get their hands on a Black Dick, I think the swain guide is the only one available now for the nears...

No longer true! The Williams guide to the Nears was published last year.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
