Greetings,
Andy Laakman (one of the beloved 'landlords' of the site) is in town again after the broken foot incident and will be here for one week plus. I'm just getting over the knee issues and started climbing (conservatively) again. So it's a combination celebration & community night for a few of us...

Last time Andy was in town we threw a little appreciation night for the admins and had a pretty large crowd gather UPSTAIRS at the Dark Horse Saloon in Boulder for Beers and eats. Well over 40 people showed up and we had a pretty good time. It's time for a repeat. I'd like to be sure to openly invite the rest of the front range to this particular one and see who can show up.

  • EDIT: (There are cars coming in from Denver and Ft Collins, so read the posts to join in. If the Springs people show up, I'll buy dinner for the Designated Driver.)

On Thursday 5/14, at 6:30 PM, we'll descend on the Dark Horse for beer and eats as a climbing gang. I'd like it if everyone could buy an owner or admin of their choice a beer on the house- of course it's up to you, but it's the only pay they'll get for the year. Shouldn't be a problem for them to drink free entirely if a large number of people show. Co-Owner (the more silent partner) Nick Walker has affirmed that he'll show too, and I dnno where myke is these days.
  • (Edit: I happen to know that they already cross-posted this to the admins discussion list.)

If it helps to know, Pitchers of Sunshine Wheat, 90 Schilling, Fat Tire, 1554 and other nice microbrews are $10 so buying someone a beer is about a $2 affair... Talk to me before buying to get the discount.

Additionally,
I'll have on hand a bunch of copies of the new Flatirons Climbing guidebook at a 30% discount for the local crew C/O sharp-end publishing. Retail is $32 + tax. (~$35) but they are $25 tax included at the beer night. Cash only.

Lastly,
It's worked out well for people to bring unwanted geer to swap. I and several others have unloaded or aquired gear at swap prices there- as usual, I'll have a space on the bar for stuff that people want to sell or trade. And as usual, for the new stuff I bring in- the proceeds will go to the Access Fund.

Roll Call?
Co Springs, Ft Collins, Denver Crew, are you guys in?

I will try- weeknights are hard for us to get up there, its a long drive and even longer on the way home, ya know? I will however touch base with the springs climberz and see what we can brew together. Thanks for the invite, sounds fun.

  • *Springs Climberz**- If your are interested in trying to go, post or PM me and we can get a plan together

I don't know if I'll make this one - might be road-tripping. Is that a valid excuse? Shoot, there goes my perfect attendance at the Boulder Beer Nights...

That would be what, 20 beers each? Sounds like college!
Ever do the one-way Greyhound ticket trick with a really plowed buddy?
Good times.
I might give it a try. My company's office is in Boulder and I haven't been there in 3 months.
