Does anyone know of a good place to camp out in Boulder? I work in Boulder a lot, sometimes many days in a row, and occasionally on a weekend. I've been unable to find a place to stay, "in my van down by the river". Do I just need to just hole up with the homeless? Thanks!

There aren't many, the fuzz long ago figured out all the spots people try to car camp in this town and they'll chase you out with a quickness. There are some residential neighborhoods west of 9th street and north or Pearl that you could get away with parking in and sleeping inconspicuously in a vehicle for a night or two, otherwise try out east a little, a little side street (57th) just off of Valmont seems to see a car camper now and again, otherwise head to the hills, plenty of dirt roads around Ned, Ward, Rollisville, etc. You're gonna have to move pretty much every day though.

There is a nice campground at boulder canyon lodge, but its 20something a night.

Upper Magnolia rd, just past the Sundance on the way out of Ned. is one of the closest legit places to stay (30 min from Boulder). Otherwise find a friend with some spare driveway space and keep the lights out at night - the man is watching.

I never got bothered when I just pulled into a busy hotel lot and cashed out. Granted this wasn't in Boulder, but it was in Southern California.

Thanks for the input. I'm familiar with these areas. Be safe!

My wife and I live in Eldo, we have a trailer in our backyard that we store books and bikes and stuff. But it has a king sized futon and is dry and cozy as all hell, better than a tent with cops fucking with you. You can hear climbers on the Bastille yelling belay signals, we are that close to the stone, so you can go get your crag on whenever. As long as it's short term, PM me.

The closest Walmart off 36 is off Sheridan in Denver. Little drive, but quick in the morning. I'm camping there right now, actually. Walmarts are almost always a safe bet as long as you don't do it more than a couple days in a row.

There's also a Wal-Mart on US 287 in Lafayette, in between Arapahoe and Baseline. I wouldn't suggest shopping there (because Wal-Mart sucks for a variety of reasons), but they've got a big nice new lot to "camp" in. Lafayette is 20 minutes east of Boulder.
