Thanks, Tony. The Yorkshire Ripper is one of those climbs that I want to forget about, yet, it haunts me. I completed the crux moves but backed away from completing it - too damn scary for me. I haven't been climbing too much due to the arrival of my son, certainly not enough to take on The Yorkshire Ripper, however, when the time comes(and I know it will), I will certainly have you belay me. I sure as hell wouldn't ask anyone to lead it...

By the way, awesome tick list.

Well, last year I climbed zero of 10 from my post here-LAME! Knee injury, arm injury, too much work, house project, chronic bronchial inflamation, yada yada yada...never touched a one of them!
I did get to do some fun climbing including working Leave it to Beaver in J-Tree with a 60something y.o. Tom Hargis who still kicks ass and pretty much floated it. And did some very good hometown routes that I had not done including Death and Transfiguration, The Vaporizer, and Consummation Night. Also got to Smith and did Astro Monkey which was way fun and the Smith King Swing which was equally a blast! But in a lot of ways it was a dissapointing year for me climbing-wise.
So, this years list technically still includes all of last years routes although realistically I won't be traveling that much and I'll focus just on the closer ones.
But on to the all new list for 2009, with hopes for more success!
In no particular order
1.Atlantis,Needles
2.Don Juan Wall,Needles
3.Romantic Warrior,Needles-dream big, right?
4.Life Without Parole, Veedawoo
5.Your Mother, Eldo
6.The Wisdom, Eldo
7.Primrose Dihedrals-send it this time
8.4th of July Crack, Veedawoo
9.Anaconda, GOTG
10.Ithaca, RMNP

Very nice. Here are some of mine (we'll have to see how it goes):

1) Kor's Flake
2) Romulan Territory
3) Fantasy Ridge (should have done this one already, dammit!)
4) Fat City Crack (I will send this mf even if I have to pull the rope)
5) Raised On Robbery
6) Rosy Crucifixion
7) Better Than Love
8) Thindependence->Visual Aids->Loose Ends->Cheap Date
9) Graceland
10) The Yellow Spur

Whew!

And, Ed - 10 new routes?! That's ambition.

Cheers, m

I highly recommend the Cheap Date finish. And looking back on my tick list I see that I too yarded on a piece for Fat City. Still fun!

How does a route you did not send make it on a tick list?
Shouldn't that be on your todo list?

Tick is a relative term.

Relative to whom? you either do it (tick) or you do not do it (shame).

To do otherwise is to misrepresent your achievements.

Well after waiting for my computer to chug through some data I started the MP.com peruzing and seeing this thread made me ask myself. What routes do I have to to do this year? Here they are: (all near SLC UT except #7 which is in City of Rocks)

1. Lowe Route
2. Vertical Smile
3. Triple Overhangs
4. Arm and hammer
5. All Chalk and No Action
6. The Thumb: a mix of Standard Thumb, Indecent Exposure Variation, S-Direct
7. Bloody Fingers
8.

Moving up to the shelf: S-Curve Overhang
9. Big in Japan
10. Weed Be Gone

Now I am left rotting in my seat waiting for this weather to improve so I can get out...

Your achievements only have to be represented to yourself and that is based on personal ethics and opinions. Somebody might have a different opinion on sending than I do, but if they believe they sent the climb then they sent it, who cares anyway. Climbing is about overcoming personal goals not impressing other people.

Thanks, Kateri. Cheap Date is actually how I finished it off last time. I should probably give Outlander a go next time.

Coeus, consider not being so tight about the semantics. Personally, I use the tick list here to indicate what climbs I have been on, noting when I do/don't send and how I send them. It's just a way of keeping things straight for me.

Dang, I just lost my climbing sponsorship and all my fame and glory for pulling on a piece of gear.

Not when you tick list says, where one can publicly read it:
"Aug 24, 2008 With Mike. I aided roof, dangit "
Seems pretty fairly represented and honest to me.
There is no "been on it but didn'd redpoint" list here.
Nor is there one for followed, but didn't lead for that matter.
I hope I don't have to specifiy only pitches I lead...

At least she's out there climbing and not sitting in front of the computer nit-picking someones personal achievements. Her tick list is pretty damn impressive regardless if you ask me, as opposed to your pretty blank one. Maybe you can fill it in when they start naming the routes at your local gym.

wow cut coeus a break he has a point. fluff your ego (tick list) if you need to but don't get all pissed when someone calls you on it

Hey someone want to give me a list of 10 classic routes for Colorado this summer (rating doesn't matter)? Wunch's Dihedral is already on my list. Thanks.

Its not really calling it out when its already been stated clearly. Would you not consider a route ticked if in one moment of desperation you grabbed a draw for a split second?

Its not a huge deal to me I just thought it was pretty lame that Kateri was just talking about a route she has done and Coeus had to knock her for it.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
