Hi-I was thinking about going down to lake city on mon, tues, and wed to climb the ice, and was wondering if anyone has been there in the last few days or week. Are the conditons still good? Has the warm temps melted alot out? I am driving from vail so was just wondering if i would be better to just stay here and climb if alot has melted. Also if anyone has any good beta on lodging or other usefull information, i would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks much!

I havent been down to Lake City since the comp last weekend. I have some beta for the area. I have recent pics of some climbs, mostly from Blue Mesa area. Let me know what routes you are looking to do. The park is in. I have some friends down there I can have check some climbs.

I am looking to climb the park and possibly do the sherman climb the last day if the avy danger is low. I tried to do some of the blue mesa climbs last week because from the otherside of the canyon they looked great. AFter gearing up i stoped by a house next to the climb to ask for permission and was told that the access to all those climbs was denied by the new landowner who is the sheriff of longmont. she said he knows alot of people in town and has cops waiting to give out 4,000 dollar tresspassing tickets to any climber who gets caught. I gave her my number which she gave to him and i talked to him a few days ago. He explecitly said that he will not let any climbers cross his land. Have you done the cerecanti monster? I was thinkn on doing that one as well. anyway, what is the best place to stay in lake city? Thanks for your help.
