Has anyone been to Vail to climb lately? What is in, what is not?

Looking up from the road (I live in the vail area), all the normal ice flows are in with the exception of the Fang which has not touched down yet this year. I will be going up on Monday and could post a more thorough report then. The skiing has just been to good to break away from and go ice climbing this year!

I climbed in the area on January 11th. Spiral Staircase and variations were all in. As was Rigid Designator. The Fang is not down yet. The ice was thick and in good condition. About 4 parties were up there that day. A few went up to the Pencil and climbed there, so I'm assuming that's in good condition too. The hike in was well established, as were the glissades back down!

Climbed Vail Sunday Jan. 25th.

All flows are in (minus the fang - 20+ feet til it connects) The RD has a large cleft in the upper portion, but is still climbable.

Spiral Staircase is in. Left side steep WI4, Right side great fun WI3.

Pumphouse is thick and blue, but looked like a bit of a snow wallow to get up to it with all of the recent snowfall.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
