Hey Bob , I am in support of you sticking around . You have always been an active member in our climbing community , and I hope you still will be. Your effort and energy are tireless. This is just a simple note to say ...... I respect you. I suspect many others do as well . You speak honestly and that in itself I can admire. Continue to be true to yourself . Here, and other places I look forward to hearing from you . Be safe . Peace. ( I truly hope you get to read this ! )

I agree. I'll honor his request to delete his content when I have time next week... but my vote is for him to stay part of the community.

I've gotta come out of "lurking" and chime in here. It would be a crying shame to lose Bod D's input to this site. His hard work out on the rock has give me countless hours of enjoyment and for sure I'm not the only one. Whatever it was that happened to bring things to this point SUCKS....Nothing but respect for his hard work. Scott

My thoughts exactly!

Thanks to everyone and maybe somehow I can leave my content and remove my name from it.

In a strange weird way this was a little about me and more about how a few of my friends have been treated and how maybe this site needs (as a good friend put it)an enforcer to weed out the shit that gets filter through here on occasion.

No one should be able to have a user name like "KCsucksmonkeyballs"and not be ban from the site immediately and if takes legit users to leave the site for administrators to be aware and do something about the situation then maybe it's worth it.

Thanks again and be safe climbing.

Second that. Dont throw in the towel dude- it will be in vain. The spilt milk will be cleaned up, as this site Im sure, and we can all get back to what we are here for- climbing and sharing.

If you the leave, essentially, the trolls win, and we all lose. Just take a break and some time, and think about it man. Really. Thanks for all you've done for our climbing arena- dont stop. Its IS appreciated!!

Again.... Bob, I don't know you but from what I lurk you are a major respectable piece of mountain project and Colorado climbing. The admins need to control their site and reserve the right to kick people off that shouldn't be on here. The vulgarity and outright disrespect used by some should not be tolerated. If it means a little more work for the admins, etc than so be it. If they like their site (want it to thrive positively) then they will do whats necessary to keep critical parts of the community alive (Bob). People (I will if necessary) should notify the admins of this type of behavior and then when deemed necessary, the few should be kicked off. If they come back and continue then kick them off again. Sooner or later they will get the point or just stop making new accounts. In general, its exactly what that guy with the crazy cool stach said about e-thugs and subconsciously striving for attention. Bob doesn't deserve this. Does he admins? NO. Well do something about it.

Rise above Bob, don't let it get to you. Stay and continue your great work for all to enjoy.

Thanks Shane and Spencer...you guys bring very valid points and hopefully some are being address.

Ron Long...you can hold your own pretty damn good.

Bob I am saddened to hear of your departure from the site, your feelings probably cannot be changed but I want to ask you to stay because your contributions to the site are tremendous and I would hate for stupid forum posts to be the demise of all your hard work. thank you for all the time and effort you have put into the site.

Internet forums, at times, bring out the worst in people. People use aliases with the benefit of remaining anonymous and hurt people. They say things in a forum that they would NEVER say in a face to face situation. It's bad and it breeds bad behavior by others.

I've left a couple of forums in the past year becuase they no longer offered anything of substance to me. The forums themselves had changed from being oriented around the main topic (Backpacking in this case) and were nothing more than social hour for rude people.

I hope mp doesn't let this happen. Good and attentive moderators will keep it from happening.

Bob, i don't know you, but i have seen a LOT of your content that you contributed, routes, areas, etc and I appreciate it. The community is what makes mp a good place on the net - but the community can also ruin it. I hope that doesn't happen.

I wouldn't blame you for leaving the site, but I hope that after a few days, the trolls are dealt with appropriately (banned) and you choose to remain an active member of our community.

I look forward to checking out some of your routes this next season.

Bob is the Man!. I wonder this... just how did he get so much done (thousands of routes, raised three kids, successful marriage) and then still has time for Mountain Project. Keep it up Bob.

The main "troll"s account has been deactivated already and the other seem to have chilled. The best way to handle personal attacks and gross violations of rule #1 is to let an Administrator know. ASAP! Bob D' brought a very good point to our attention and we hope he sticks around as well. This is not censorship folks, just common courtesy to other climbers. Now back to the Bob D' lovefest!

I would suggest that MP produce a

Code of Conduct

policy that every member agrees to adhere to or risks having that IP address forever banned.

This isn't a publicly-owned institution. It is a privately-owned venture. There are no inherent rights to be held. You participate here at the pleasure of the owner and his rules. I for one, will no longer stand idly by when an asshole like those 2 emerges and essentially cyber-assaults one of the tribe! I'll be throwing penalty flags around the next time I see such bullshit, I hope 100's of others do too.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
