I have added routes from LRC and sent a lot of boulder/sport routes. Why don't I have any points? Am I doing some thing wrong?

First off, if you are doing it for the cool points you might be contributing for the wrong reason.

Second, just wait, they aren't immediate.

Cause we as we all know around here......It's all about the points!

I think the point system was revamped recently; it probably has something to do with that.

P.S. It's good to see younger climbers on this site; just don't post post any V-double digits. It makes me depressed. :)

Edit: David, the crowd can be pretty tough around here, don't let 'em get to you.

You have to kill Blitzo and drink his blood to get any points. He has most of them from the time they were first created in the dawn of Time.

You deserve at least 50 points for living in Florida. I know you probably don't have a choice since you are 13.

You're right it isn't all about the points, but I'd like to get up there in the ranks;D

Florida is bitter sweet for a climber. On the good side, you get some awesome gyms. You also get to go to a lot of comps. Obviously on the bad side, we are deprived of rock and trad gear...
I'd do anything to move to France and climb my heart out at font, however...

I've seen him. He gets 10000 points for being on so long...

Jeez Cushman, ease up on the lil' guy!

Points are important -- many don't realize it, but once you hit 10,000, you get free climbing gear: a lightly-used 50m rope; a toy biner; a bolt kit autographed by healyje; etc.

Kidding aside, David, my experience is that the point totals get updated overnight. Check tomorrow, you'll probably see your points then.

I think the little guy is holding his own quite well.

It was a joke.

I'm just mad because Mark stashed 2 beers in my pack (unbeknownst to me) up Wind Ridge.

I realize that. I just used it as a segway to giving the kid some props.

David,

For a youngun from a flat state you are doing a great job w/this crowd. Im enjoying the thread!

As far as I can tell, points do get added overnight but your standing seems to be based on not just points but if others find your contributions useful. The more who rate your stuff "helpful" the higher your status. It also seems that if you want status, post cool pics- thats what people like to rate.

"Ooooo, pretty picture!" (imagine the Homer Simpson voice)

All this is is an educated guess from someone who has an IT background and there may be other factors Im leaving out.

Keep in mind that depending on the area, attitude of folks who climb there etc some will not use the "rate this contribution" feature so make sure you only post for areas where everyone loves and supports each other.

One other way to see if folks like your contribution is to look at the page visit tallies on the top of the page- it won't make you "officially" higher but will let you know if there are folks out there curious about that area who you might have helped out.

And, while you mull over if/how this may or may not really matter, have fun climbing in FL- better you than me!

Give the kid his points he should be pushing 200 with all the photos and boulder problems. David, you rock, I wish I could boulder as hard as you. Maybe my 2 and half year old son will soon.

I got the points, I was confused because I didn't know that they were updated overnight. Thank you by the way:D
