thought i'd ask the masses, rather than camp somewhere im not supposed to.....

id like to check out both kelly canyon and priest draw, and was wondering where would be some places to pitch a tent for a night or two nearby, either or both of these places.

any thoughts?

thanks!

Priest Draw is a good place to camp. Just turn left onto the national forest, a couple hundred yards after entering the draw, and have at it. Unless the forest is closed due to fire restrictions; but I haven't heard of any to date.

Im not to sure that you can camp anywhere near kelly canyon, also I think the road to it is closed being they are working on the bridge.

Kelly Canyon is open - at least it was on Thursday. I've seen some fire rings near the parking as well. Priest Draw would be a nicer spot - just go left at the fork and drive until you see something you like.

Grand Canyon Hostel on San Fran St. is really cheap too. Last I stayed there 1.5 years ago it was 9 bucks for a bunk. Otherwise, you could find some flat spots in Kelly itself. It's pretty quiet down there and I don't think anyone would mind.

As long as you are on forest service land you should be ok...provided they don't have any restrictions. You know the southwest. Dry. Dry. Dry.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
