I just read that Mike Strassman died at his home in Lone Pine, CA.
For those who did not know Mike, he established many fine routes in souther Arizona and the Sierra.
He was a great force in our climbing community and will be missed by many.
All my best to family and friends.

Peter,
So sad!
Was just corresponding with Mike on Friday.
I just spoke with his brother Neil (8pm 7/04/07). It's true. No cause of death yet.
He was going to give me some topos for his East Face routes for a revision of our CA 14ers guide.
Do you know whom I might contact regarding those? Neil didn't.
It'd be nice to acknowledge/include his excellent achievements in the Whitney area.
Best,
Cam Burns

Just came down from the east side and it's pretty big news with the locals. Only speculation now about carbon monoxide poisoning as cause of death. Initial reports indicated that he and his dog had been found in his trailer in Lone Pine. According to his sister Deb the dog is fine and with Mike's ex-wife in Crowley Lake.

Just another weird occurrence with climbers dying. From what I heard he was high on life and things were looking up as he recently closed on a pretty big real estate transaction and was pretty flush!

Mike has put up many routes throughout the Sierra & AZ. If you travel these areas at all I'm confident you've been on some of his routes.

I didn't see Mike often but will forever think of him and his efforts as I climb on the playgrounds he has created just for us.

Never had the pleasure of meeting Mike! I recently was driving through the Eastern Sierra and was thinking it would be cool to run into him somewhere. Anyone that has climbed on Mt. Lemmon or the Eastern Sierra most likely climbed some of his routes. It's sad too have lost another climber like so many other's recently. I'm sure he will be missed! My sincere condolences go out to his Family and Friend's.

"WILL PUT ONE UP FOR YOU MIKE" RIP
