I remember going out there one day and seeing the tree down. It must have been shortly after it was cut because I was going out there quite a bit and then all of a sudden notice this massive log to sit on. It was surely close to a year ago.

Ya, noticed the tree was down in early spring 07. This picture was shortly after they had bolted it.

The tree had burned up in the fire and was dead. So what if it was cut down. It was going to fall down and possibly kill one of the forty or so people that you find there on any weekend. I see it as more of a public service. If the thing had been alive and provided shade then you have a gripe, but it wasn't. If you had looked at the base of the log or the stump as I did you would have seen that the bark had fallen off. So lets take a deep breath and relax.

No one posting here actually seems to be upset about the tree, E.R., but thanks for the PSA!

No I certainly wasn;t upset over it even though it did add a bit to the lead knowing you had a tree in your near future if you fell. =D

The little guy is the only fella with what it takes to lead the route now that the dead tree can't be used to stem off of.
