After 15+ years of climbing here, I've yet to understand two things: What species the spiders are down there, and two, why are they quite large?

This guy looks really similar to the Running Crab Spider: insectidentification.org/insec...
I've also seen lots of Banded Garden Spiders insectidentification.org/insec... which are some seriously monstrous things. I stay off those routes!
