Inconsiderate climbers at Indian Creek

The solution to this epidemic is simple. Take your Indian Creek tick list and remove the following climbs... Scarface, Incredible Hand Crack, Generic Crack, Chocolate Corner, Rock Lobster, Johnny Cat, King Cat, 9 Lives, Way Rambo, Pente, Slot Machine, Middle Crack, Tube Steaks, T-Bones, etc. You get my drift? Then simply add the following routes... Pirate Treasure- no one can bother you while you hang out on top of that pillar belaying the second pitch, The Big Baby- they might stop and gawk, but they'll leave shortly, Taster's Choice- if you can even find it, Torque Wrench- it's over 100' feet so most people can't even figure out how to get down, Mondo- hard off the deck and too far from other people to see you send, Wiggins I & II- again too long plus the approach... Anyway, have fun and remember it's only sport climbing- not some serious adventure worth giving a s@#% about!

Privacy and personal space at Indian Creek?

Ha Ha Ha... that's funny shit!

Personally, I'm glad that most people choose to spend all their time at IC... I climbed 10 towers last week and didn't see another climber the entire time.

I agree with the thinking that you should ask nicely first. After that, the options seem limitless. Good luck.

Hey beagle,
That's the point. People are recognizing the sport climbing aspect of indian creek and bringing the bad mojo you find at sport climbing cliffs...numbers game, yelling and screaming when you can't "send", and spewing about everything and anything. It was very easy to walk away from the sporto cliffs but I think Indian Creek is worth the debate.

BTW- I would consider you list of alternates also fairly popular (excepting taster choice) and would include mine but that would defeat the point.

You whining sissies! There are many places remote, and un-touched. Search and you will receive. But you must try; then you will probably complain about the long approaches.

Why the hell would a sissy boy like me want to hike in for some sandy choss piles, when I can get half the granite I want for twice my hike in the Platte??

You can pretty much guarantee she wasn't from Boulder.

Would you rather someone talk to you like a normal human being or immediately throw a bag of shit at you because your presence is offensive? I know some folks were posting suggestions in jest, however some of you need to have some decency and just talk to people.
Ditto.

Well put-- it's nice to see someone taking a proactive position, rather than the whiny, helpless role. If there's a problem, perhaps you should confront it with the people you have a problem with, rather than whimpering about it online days later. C'mon, buddy. If you want responsible, civil behavior at the crag, it might have to start with you.

the 'rant' is the description of an example of an increasingly re-occurring behavior that i grow tired of having to respond to- like i said- call me a dick. but someone along this discussion said he thought that the discussion was worth having so we're havin' it. i think that one of the problems with this type of behavior/aggressive queuing is that its so shocking to me at the time that i'm kinda speechless at the time/ then i just want to bail/ then later i'm wishing i would have said this or that but at the time i just want to keep my mouth shut so the situation stays civil. i agree that some women can get a little testy if you call them out even a little and as i am married, i fear the wrath of wo-man. especially when i'm taking a chance at a high-traffic crag w/ my own circus in tow to be managed and kept under control. we all have our own routines that we have to 'manage' to remain kinda quiet and under control- thats why the idea of ettiquette / queuing is a good discussion to be having.

and i also get sick of the creeping global-village-mentality that insists that i talk to every tom dick and harry i see or be deemed to be acting in non-accordance to the hippy-trippy rules of timmy's magical playland. bring on the drums! crank up your ipod bra!

If you guys/girls don't possess the skill and focus to manage the chatter and traffic at or near your belay station, then how are you ever going to deal with a potential emergency from above - i.e. a partner in trouble?

I almost can't believe that this discussion is taking place. It is frightening that some of you actually climb. My advice to those of you, who really believe that this is a problem, is to restrict your climbing activities to your local gym or take some AMGA courses in mountain safety. Seriously!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
