I like that he was a "self-proclaimed expert".

Looks like his hand got burnt and he let go of the rope!

It looked like he was thinking that his forward weight would hold him in his belay device, but he didn't even have his hand in the right position to hold the brake. Plus, I don't think that he added in the rate of speed, in which he was about to fall.DOH!

i'm glad he was okay though : )

This is totally me (as a dumbass punk kid; except we did it old-school, with hardware store static ropes). I can't believe I didn't kill myself, my brothers, burn my parents house down, blow up the boat, shotgun my hand off, etc...

What if he actually did arrest his fall? $10 says he would have linbacker'ed himself right into the rock. Look at his first rap, he's setting himself up.

I think he was trying to introduce another style, the "Peter Pan" rappel style.

Tell me this is gonna make the all-stars of the ANAM. (Fall on Rock, Rappel Exceeding Abilities)

I think that will be on the jacket cover of "accidents in North America"

Wow, it has been my experiance that the seriousness of the injurys are in direct relation to the number of women and cameras present...
on another note, I had a high school buddy who routinely "rapped" off his homes chimney with the garden hose.. Wow, I think at one time or another we all have had our "Darwin moments".. Poor guy..

Looked like he had a few too many and was having an (alcohol courage) moment! Definitely a "Bonehead" with no helmet attempting something like this. People doing thing's like this give all Climber's a bad reputation!

Yes, but we've all done something stupid like this. I would have paid good money just to see him pull it off so he could smack the shit out of himself against the wall.

He was probably lucky that he did deck.

How exactly did "his ropes fail him"?

"Ask any climber, it's their worst fear." Yes, everytime I try the Peter Pan method, the same thought goes through my head.

Ya gotta love that commercial before the news clip.

One good thing, I think we've got some good how-(not)to footage for basic rock instruction.
