devkrev.......you have to understand that the ratings at the Gunks is seriously skewed. If a local is calling it a 5.5, it's likely 5.8/9 in the real world. That's not a criticism, just an observation from climbing at the Gunks for the last 9 summers and extensive adventures at other climbing areas. Also, there are numerous horizontals and features that you can't see in this photo, that make the climbing more moderate than it appears.

I think he was too, but Shirley looks pretty terrified for this being a 5.5. I wish there were more "5.5"s like this in the Alps! It would make convincing my wife to do get on some of those routes a little easier.
Some people just get scared and there is nothing wrong with that. That is about as easy and mellow spot that you will find on any climb. There are ledges and large holds everywhere and the grade at that point is 5.3 and really fun.
