Is mid-to-late October a good time to climb in the Red River Gorge?

October should be a great time to climg at the Red. Humidity usually drops off in September. Stop at Miguel's for pizza!!!

Andy, October is usually one of the drier months with daytime highs in the 60s. I've climbed there in late October under sunny skies, with temps right around 70 degrees. There is a chance that you will get a blast of cold air, but usually the winter precip and temps don't start until November. The fall colors down there usually peak around the third week of October, as well. Perfect for climbing, enjoy!!

It's probably the best time to climb there in my opinion. Stock up on Ale'8 Ones to bring home.

I was just down there today. Muggy, buggy, and somewhat unappealing. But my friend Barry (who has done more than a few FAs down there) says that even November can be a great month.

Yeah...Ale 9-one...since the Red is in a dry county...if you want something with alcohol in it, you better BYOB!

If you need suggestions on routes...just email me privately. I'd even consider meeting you down there (with Barry if he is free too) to show you around.

The Red is in a dry county, but the county line AND the beer trailer are about 10 minutes from Miguels.

September/October/November is great. December is good.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
