Spectacular views abound when you boulder in the M...

Description

In and around the town of Mammoth Lakes there are a number of bouldering areas. Some are convenient to get to and climbable all year around, whilst others you'll need to hike to, and only accessible in the summer months.

Whilst the quality of the bouldering is no where near the same as the fairly close by Happy and Sad areas, the Sherwin Plateau, or the Buttermilks, they are convenient if you are in Mammoth.

There is no real bouldering guide, so each of the areas described, has information about how to reach the area, and possible some of the more obvious problems listed.

Getting There

Mammoth Lakes is situated a few miles west (on the 203) from the 395, about 40 miles north of Bishop.

Bryant at the crux of Morpheus

Morpheus V5 6C  CA : Sierra Eastside : ... : Two Dragons Area
The obvious crack line on the Two Dragons boulder is climbed from a sit start all the way down in the hole at the bottom of the wall. Make difficult moves up, then left to a gaston, then back right into the crack. Get a shake at some point, then punch it up the crack. The moves get easier the higher you go, with big moves between big jugs for the upper half of the route....[more]   Browse More Classics in CA
