go about finding gear within a more meager budget

I can give you a few rigid friends, bunch of biners and a few CAMP tri-cams. All used and fallen on, but still safe (well, I still use 'em). The only thing is that you'd have to figure out how to get this stuff from here (NYC) to wherever you are.

I wish you'd posted that before I bought a pair. Which I'm not using (grrr...) and need to sell to recover my cost.

Why I do it...
Ok folks the backpack and thermorest chair thing have been shipped.
Shipping was over $30 combined. Rather than get me the cash back,
what if you paid it forward?

Dig through your gear stash for two or three items you don't use,
post them here,
and ship to someone who could use it.

Better for the gear.
Better for others.
Better for the planet.
Better for you.

Rope! For FREEE!!!! According to a reliable friend it was bought ten years ago as a spare, never used, and given to me about a year ago. I'd wager it's a 10.2, not sure on brand. No frays, soft/hard spots, discolorations etc. it was kept in a rope bag for its long, dull life. Too thick and a little stiff for my leading purposes, would make a great gym/ t.r rope... or if you're not into the whole climbing on a free rope thing, whatever may suit your fancy. I've fallen on it T.R enough to know that it catches well and has a lot more climbing life. Send a P.M my way and I'll send pics if you're interested. I'd trade shipping costs for any condition J-tree or Red Rock guide book or really any nifty little surprise. Also have an old ATC belay device in good shape. Also don't need it. Also free. this is addicting... ALSO have an old L.L Bean summer sleeping bag. Fits the average 6' person. Well used, but still on the house! ** sleeping bag GONE, looks like the rope's on its way out too... thanks gang!

Is the rope still available? Probably not but figured I'd check..

Pair of Scarpa shoes, size 10 lace ups. I bought these former gym rentals back in the day. They are due for a resole, but will hold up for beginners, etc. Uh, they're red...

Shoes are gone...off to some creepy troll who's actually going to wear these shoes on his deformed hands

Ice climbing friends, does anyone have Black Diamond Cobra or Viper ice tools? A friend gave me a BD "strike; that I can't use, so I'd love to find a home for it. PM me and I'll drop it in the mail to the first taker.

Edit: taken!

Check with your local gym if you aren't able to come across any here. Climbnasium has them for sale occasionally.

I have some 10 supermocs, that are .5 size to small for me. I got them free here to resole (read blown out), but would rather pass them on. If anyone has 10.5 old mocs I'd be happy to trade as well.

Looking for 10 bucks to ship em.
