Comments: "Now Huntley, you gotta get with it, those springy things are pretty easy to use"

Great photo Allen, you hang out with some pretty big names, how much do you pay them? :-)

Comments: We used to call that "broken beer bottle rock" for the obvious reasons of what was on top. The move off of the ground, that was a crimp that turned into a fingertip mantle was one of my favorite warm-up moves. Not hard, but most people didn't figure it out the first time.

Comments: I was in a band back in the early 80's and we used to do some gigs up in the Evergreen area every now and then with a band called Foxton. I forget the lead player and singer's name, but he was from Foxton.

Comments: When I was a kid growing up, my parents had good friends that lived in the valley behind (Blue Mountain Estates). We used to go up there and climb around, both in the valley and on the Buttes. Up near the left center of the picture (if you zoom in) there is an amazing rock feature. A smooth overhung roof that is probably 50 ft? in length.
In the early '70s, I saw a Canadian Lynx there (not a bobcat, I know the difference).

When I started climbing in 1972, I went up there with a few frien... more >>

Comments: I once saw an old black and white fuzzy movie of John Rosholt (The Gambler - Gunnison, Red Rocks and Arizona hardman that is MIA) taking a whipper on this. John was in his early teens, it was one of his first leads, and one of his two partners was a young, teenage Dave Breashears. I wonder what ever happened to that piece of film?

Comments: Ahh, going to join the "brotherhood of the mesh". Mine works really well at predicting when a storm is coming in, and lets me know when I've been "high-stepping" too much.

Comments: Great pics! A good "bailing" story is always appreciated. Curious minds like to know and feel like they are not alone (misery loves company).

Comments: Nope, that looks like a scrape from a front end loader. When you fill in a shallow grave you don't smooth the center and pile the dirt around the outside. You guys have been watching too much "Ghost Trackers" :-)

Comments: We used to do traverses on that part of the wall, but we never imagined going "up"! Cool to see how you guys are pushing the limits.

Mostly, it was one of the few places that was dry and warm in the winter, which led to all kinds of foolishness.

Comments: I just posted some old photos from the Bu Chae Bawi climbing area near Pusan. These are historic photos taken in 1975 on a climbing weekend with the Korea Alpine Club, when I was stationed there in the army. We were climbing in big boots and kletter shoes. I don't remember what any of the climbs were, or were rated. I think it's a sport area now, but it wasn't back in those days. Those climbs were pretty severe in big boots (probably 5.8-5.9?). If anyone wants to use these pictures and set... more >>

Comments: I guess I'm just old school, but I thought that this climb BITD was an adventure to be remembered. Maybe new school climbers only enjoy an obvious, well-protected challenge and don't appreciate the route finding thing. Between the long approach, the route finding, the little gems of cool climbing pitches between the grunge, and the mid 5th class runouts, I totally digged this climb. I did it just before doing Culp-Bossier on Hallett, and I think it was the perfect warm up.

I have one of the original copies of this album with the 3-d picture on the front.
