Comments: Ditto above comment. You've got the African Serengeti sunset in front and killer Cochise landscape behind. We are soo lucky!

Comments: Hey Jimbo,
Yep, truly a shame at the Druid and some parts of the Stronghold. I'd rather not think about it as it makes me sick. We really need to ask ourselves before we drill, "does this route add to the quality of the crag, or is there a different reason I'm tempted to begin drilling". I'd say most serial drillers have other reasons in mind.

But we've been through all this before and what's done is done. No use getting upset over it again. I'll try my best to forget about it.

I did en... more >>

Comments: One pitch from bottom to top no problem with 60m. Plenty of pro and 5 bolts en route. Hangerless bolt now has nice hanger.

When I first did it c. 5 years ago I only remember two bolts low on the route. Was one added or is my memory fading? It's not needed and next to a crack that takes gear. 5.7 and safe.

VERY fun pitch, one of the best 5.7 on the mtn. Thanks EFR.

Comments: It's really too bad the first pitch of this route is "bracketed" by bolts. Hotshot's first pitch is what, 3 feet to the left? Nice. Slingwalker should have served as the approach pitch to the upper pitches of Hotshot, which is off to the left.

As a result, the first pitch of Slingwalker, which existed before its neighbors, is somewhat lost in obscurity. As in, "oh there's a bolt, I better not go that way. Oh there's another bolt, can't head that way either". Now, what was once a line th... more >>

Comments: Looking for a little beta here.

Comming in from the left does one use the underside of the roof as a layback, or the crack where the roof meets the slab? I started using the little crack but thought it was a bit easier standing up and unclinging the underside of the roof, however that requires blind groping.

Climbing directly straight up to the right side of the roof looks much harder than traversing in from upper left.

Was there a pin under the roof in the past? Small TCUs are a chore to... more >>

Comments: A fun route. Good for learning about multi-pitch climbs. Hike in is easy and hike down from top steep, grassy, and slabby but manageable.

Not as much lichen as one might expect given its name. HUGE views.

Comments: This ascent was a classic case of, "Were we off route or did we climb a new route?".

The west face of Elephant Head is large and complex. I believe no two parties will ever climb the exact same variation...even if the same party climbs it twice, they will not follow the same route.

Nevertheless, this formation is a fun little punter's peak. Get out there and get lost on this face!

Comments: I thought this route was stiff for the grade. Granted, did it off the couch, but it kept me on my toes.

To be done as a first lead at the grade? I don't think so.

Comments: Does anyone have a topo of this route? That's funny if you've ever done it. Even using ropes is a bit funny because it's a traverse in a chimney and pro for the 2nd is as good as it is for the first....which is almost non-existent once you enter the slot.

Not trying to be critical, just letting people know that this is a solo with serious consequences if you blow it deep inside the bowels.

Bring your knee pads and be a 5.8 trad climber in my opinion.

Comments: We climbed this route on 10/24/10. Car to summit to car was 8.5 hours with about 2 hours of actual rock climbing. We left the main Pima Canyon trail somwhere around mile 3.5 and choose a great bushwack line up as well as down.

The climbing was fun and the rock was pretty good considering the lack of traffic. The bolts are rusted and need replacing but I don't suspect that'll get done any time soon. I recommend the route.

If your goal is to climb Table Mtn, this route would be way more fu... more >>

Comments: We climbed this route today. Stay in the Pontatoc Canyon bottom until directly below the climb as instructed. We didn't and paid for it on the bushwack.

The climb protected well and the pitch descriptions were right on. Thanks for the 1st acsent party who obviously knocked off a lot of loose rock. If you stayed on route the climb was clean and pretty solid.

We didn't rap but the slings on top of p3 are sun-damaged and need replacing. The old mine has interesting inhabitants and many n... more >>

Comments: Can anyone tell me what variation I climbed? I climbed the right facing corner above the top of pitch 1. Instead of staying in the corner proper, I climbed the discontinuous crack a couple feet right of the corner with Peacemaker just a few feet further to my right. I ended up at Absinthe anchors of P2.

Good pitch.
