Comments: Great area, with something for everyone - sport, trad, beginners, etc. Don't forget to do the Butt Wall (no routes described here) - around the right prow. There are great warm-ups there or routes for beginning leaders. Most of them have a 2nd trad pitch, though the first pitches are all sport. Easy to get to & all routes are well bolted!

Comments: Super Route! Very fun & properly rated (much easier than the 10a to the left of it)! The 2nd pitch is really fun, too (11c) - the crux is getting to the ledge at the anchor. Be careful if you do the 2nd pitch - not very well traveled, so lots of crumbly lichen growing on it. If you choose to go right to get to the ledge for the anchor, BE VERY CAREFUL - the rock is really broken there & much of it will fall onto your belayer or climbers below. Well worth climbing, though. You can even stri... more >>

Comments: Agree that if you want the 9+ start, you have to start left, then traverse to the first bolt. Be careful if you choose the direct start, since the 1st bolt is a bit high off the ground & the feet aren't great. The rest is really fun - definite 9+.

Comments: The only real warm-up at Monitor, but a great one! Good for beginning leaders, too, b/c it's well bolted.

Comments: Agree with Aaron! You can even bypass the bulge by clipping the 3rd bolt, then moving right if you don't want to pull the bulge. Fun & easier than "L.A. Law." I'd suggest swapping the grades on them.

Comments: I actually thought this was harder than "Lawsuit," which is rated 10b! More overhanging & reachy. Fun once you figured out how to get to all the bolts (the 3rd is a bit far out).

Comments: I agree that you need to clip the bolt then work your way over the arete onto the face. Don't get suckered into the corner on the left or you won't be able to get onto the face very easily. Remember that this route shares anchors with "First Impressions" so be aware if you're leading & they're toproping. The last move to the anchor can be thin if you don't find the good holds to the left.

Comments: What a great route!! The length is wonderful - one of the longer single pitches on this wall! All beginning leaders should check it out, if they don't get intimidated by the start. It's not that hard, if you stay on the jugs to the left!

Comments: Really fun climb if you're looking to get into leading 10's!! Shorter than 5th of July, and if you stay right it's easier than 10a. Stay under the clips until right below the 3rd bolt & it will be easier, too. If you move onto the face earlier, you're going to have a bit of trouble.

Comments: Getting to the first bolt is a bit of a challenge if you're not too tall. After that, it's fun, easy climbing to the shared anchor!

Comments: Fun climb!! Look for the secret hold in the crack to get you over the bulge!
