Comments: Cordolette is not really needed for the summit moves. Big hand sized cams are found all around this short little step to the top. Great route!

Comments: Very nice photo!
From your far right line on the photo: We climbed that black streak to the right (It had ice when we did it) then straight up the rock steps joining up w/ the upper part of the drawn-in line on the right.
Hope that helps and thanks for a great photo!
Cheers
On a big snow year I bet you could ski most of the righthand drawn-in line.

Has James Garrett gotten ahold of you? I know he is looking for any info on Marjum for a guide. Thanks for the info, as I was always curious as to who put those up.
Cheers TP

Comments: Durf-
This is NOT the pillar. This is the OW that faces the road. It lies about 50 yards East of the fallen pillar.
On the pillar I remember belaying TDA on that 3rd pitch twice till he established the anchor. I think he sent it the next week in a rainstorm solo. Your chimney pitch sucked! All that gripping climbing up to a 1 1/2" bolt! Then a run to the anchor.....to bad that line fell over. It was full value.

Comments: I talked to Alan in the early 00's and he told me he hand drilled all those bolts cause he didn't have a power drill. Might be why that hole is exposed? All that hangdogging must be worming it out... :)

Comments: gcubed, you can bail from the top of P1 (one rope) or the top of P2 (two ropes) or the top of P3 (two ropes). After that you are pretty committed on the 4th pitch, although I am sure you could figure something out. Don't bail on the last 2 pitches! They are some of the best! Cheers.

Comments: Was Conrad the first ascent? I thought it was some other blokes. From campfire tales it was said that he freed the pitches on TR after the leader aided some, maybe a grey FFA? (if the campfire story is true)

Comments: Are you guys sure something broke? It has ALWAYS been spicy, the Ruckman book just downplays how serious it is getting out of that chimney (IMO).
Tytonic said" I was placing .75 camalots in the area described in the guide as "hands." Do you know anyone with hands the size of a .75 camalot?"
And she AIN"T a minority.........look at the pic of Hand Jive in the book. Who is on it?

Comments: You have limited options to do this when it's in. You either wake up really, really, really early and climb it before Snowbird opens, hopefully no control work needs to be done because they always seem to shoot that hanging snowfield at the top of the route. Or talk to Patrol before hand and get the blessing (recommended). It is highly frowned upon to poach the route if the access bowl is closed as they see you endangering the ski area and trespassing. I have seen that thing plastic blue for we... more >>

Comments: Took my 3rd spin up this today, such a fun route. Make sure to bring minimal cams, Metolius #3 to #0 is perfect IMO. A bit heady on the 2nd pitch between the last couple bolts I thought. Peeled a few dinner plates off, but it is cleaning up nicely. Do it!
