Comments: A #3 stopper makes the move to the anchor much more comfortable. A great route in a beautiful setting. Full value 11a.

Comments: Todd Wrote:

"We got our ropes stuck on the rappel, and I had to run back to the car to get jumars, run back, and ascend the rope and extend the anchor and un-stuck our rope."

That's funny the same thing happened to me. The rope actually got bound up in the wear marks in the rock. Good thing the hike is nice.

Comments: Pretty good route. Probably not the best choice for someone just breaking in to 5.8. First pitch was sustained and had a couple short runouts.Save a 2 camalot for the 5.8 roof. That is the longest hike I have ever done for 2 pitches of 5.8.

Comments: All these areas are great for toproping. Fifty footer is the steepest and hardest of them all. If you wanna practice some moderate leading wolf rock is decent. If you can't find a partner pothole hosts a good 5.10 traverse across the whole formation and some individual boulder problems. I never climbed at ross rock...or I just don't remember it.
The best climbing gym is an hour away, Prime Climb in Wallingford CT. Those guys know what they're doin.

I started my climbing "career" on these rocks ... more >>

Comments: Craig, sounds like a scary incident that would've been difficult to avoid even if one had the skills, "sensitivity", vast experience and wisdom of some of the people who post on this site. Climbing is dangerous and there are just some variables beyond our control. It's cool that everything turned out ok for you.

Comments: Joe said: I really did not enjoy this route at all. There just wasn't anything great about it, except for the 1 foot approach from the carriage trail.

Dude, if you can find a steeper more exciting pitch of 5.5. Let me know. This route kicks ass!

Comments: That's actually the second pitch of liquid sky i believe. Solid 5.11. The true second pitch of lightning bolt is to the left, the offwidth. We also did the second pitch of liquid sky instead, it looked more enjoyable albeit harder.

Comments: You can also just rap to the ground uphill of where you started in one rap and do a little downhill hiking back to the base. Probably faster than doing three raps. Great route!

Comments: Primitive camping. Dogs OK. Really pretty cool area that doesn't seem to attract a lot of people.
