Comments: Climbed Silk Road to ring in the New Year. Route was in fine, thin shape...the warm temps today had quite a bit of melt going. I've never seen this much ice on the east face, lots of runnels everywhere. Probable won't last long with the warm temps today and tomorrow.

Comments: Climbed Silk Road on Sunday 1/21/07 and it was spicy. The new snow made it difficult to know what was rock and what was 1 cm thick ice. I did actually place a couple of screws. See the photo I took versus the one from the day before.

Enjoy.

Comments: Wow, I have to agree that the tone of this email thread is pretty acerbic. My two cents:

When I saw Dean’s photo, my reaction was “Sweet, Dean had free soloed yet another nice piece of rock”.

THE CLIMB WAS NOT ILLEGAL. If one takes the legality of the ascent literally, I’m not too sure what all the fuss is about. Maybe folks feel the Delicate Arch is sacred because it’s on the Utah license plate but that doesn’t count for too much to me. If the DA is sacred, what about recurring violations ... more >>

Comments: Climbed at the Lower Falls in Boulder Canyon on Saturday. The curtain is still forming up on the eastern most flow; the middle flow is a narrow but thick which was fun to lead all the way up to the ditch with a steeper headwall up high; the westernmost ramp is fat and wet. Not a soul!

Comments: Climbed Superslap at sunset on Sat 5/21 and I wasn't disappointed. However, if you're looking for the fixed piece from last year at the crux, you might be seriously disappointed.

Comments: Climbed West Gully at Black Lake on Sunday 3/21. It was warm and wet. Had to climb the left side of West Gully to stay in the shade, the right side was free flowing. Still good ice though. All Mixed Up is all nonexistent.
