Comments: V---y, I will always remember the infamous invisible hash browns and the waitress who would serve them to us dirt bags with a smile! Don't fool yourself V, you were very much a part of our twisted little scene and some of the most carefree days of our youth. Hope you are well, and a club salute to ya!
Peace and fuk-nes, Steve S.

Comments: Josh, Nice send of a cool line! Not sure if Tommy led this rig. Only way to find out is to track him down at the bar or motor court where he lives. Beware if a ya go to his hovel he might answer the door in an apron and handgun! Club salute fer yer efforts. Peace and fuk-nes, Steve S. (Now puke)

Comments: Cedar, Nicely done! John Baldwin and myself watched you lead the Inner Space part of this the other day. We were the clowns yellin' at ya to go right when you were lookin' left. Having led Inner Space 4 times myself, it was great to watch someone else on it from across the creek. Puts the run out into a new perspective. As you know from the point of no return till you "finally" get to the bomber stopper placement is a defining moment in yer Eldoexperience as in "thank God or whoever"! Rarely ge... more >>

Comments: I am sorry to report that Rob Lemon has passed on to the next life. He was a unique character who added greatly to the DLFA experience. He was a firm believer in Buddhism and had a great knowledge about fine wines. For Rob I believe it wasn't just about the climbing but the comradery . R.I.P. Rob. Thanks for the fun times.

Comments: JJ, Nice essay about the man ,the myth,Tommy D. He was quite the character and well versed in a wide range of subjects. His favorite topics were women, climbing and MUSTAFA ! Most of the stuff about women and Mustafa are unprintable here and were often hilarious to us clubbers. You could tell he had read a lot of the classic literature also ,which was a bit beyond our limited intellect at the time.
The first top rope of Bagatelle in 1969 by Pete Cleveland would rank right up there with some... more >>

Comments: Thanks JJ for suggesting an improved route description for this climb, it really deserves one. Thanks also to Jay for delivering one.
"All The Way" was one of my favorite routes at DL . What with the very powerful and tricky start that leads to sustained pullin down and then a tough finishing move, tough as a two dollar steak.......well maybe not that tough! All combined with some "precision" gear placements , it's a recipe for what Tommy use to say "have fun or get hurt bad".
What it la... more >>

Comments: Ed, Nice to see you made it.....i.e. You are still alive! Yes those were some fun solo's back then. You were one of the few who would sack up and solo this with me back then. Mondays at lake were awesome cause there was usually no one else there. Look me up sometime, I am "living the dream " in Eldo. Peace and f-nes Steve S.

Comments: It's a sad day for rock and roll......Just found out Lou Reed passed away. As mentioned before we use to listen to Lou quite abit ! Rock and Roll Animal is a great kick ass album . Guaranteed to keep all croutons well away from us when we had it cranked at full volume ,which as luck would have it was the best way to listen to it!
R.I.P. Lou Reed , thanks for kickin our butts. Drink to Bleed with Lou Reed !!!

Comments: Awesome! This boulder brings back some great memories. We would boulder on this between sessions on Mouse Tracks ,Mouses Tail, or Thourgho Fare ,etc. I doubt we engaged in any sit starts back then except for climbing out from under a bar stool while engaging in some silly bar tricks. Try it some time it's at least V4......the bar stool that is!
Either way thanks for posting this and could somebody throw up a picture too.
Peace and Fuk-Nes Steve S.

Comments: Yo punters, As far as I know the FFA was by Pete Cleveland in the mid to late 60's and the first lead is a toss up for either Tommy D , Prunes Bechler or Ralph Schimdt. I believe Tommy was quite keen on this route back in the day. Great DL route. Peace and f-nes Steve S.

Comments: Very clever insight by my esteemed college Hammercase Sloshbury aka Duke O puke or "one who walks with Fuk-nes". How many martinis did it take to come up with that one? Oh,my bad you switch to margaritas for the summer for the health benefits of the lime.
Let me get this straight...Mr. Toproper after conquering the 5.11c or 5.12a 50ft toprope ( lord knows we couldnt climb that hard) and "slaying the dragon" (dlfa) he failed to partake in the ritual of consuming the "blood" of the beast in celeb... more >>

Comments: I believe various DLFA members were involved in "developing" this prime piece of real estate. This would include Bill Russell, Rich Bechler,Brian Sime,Rob Lemon,Steve S.,and of course Dave "hammer case" Salisbury(aka sloshbury). Hammer case Dave came up with the excellent name for the boulder as he was way into Lou Reed and martinis ......still is. This boulder was featured in some great nite time sessions including one where we were caught off guard by the DNR and one Bill R when asked for his ... more >>

Comments: The story behind this climb goes like this....While the fellow mentioned by Prez. Bechler may have named the climb he certainly did not climb it. Not sure why Koala bear named it the Vulva, but it certainly fits the climb. I believe this was 1st top roped by some random DLFA hammer case, it was first led in an inspired moment by my esteemed brother of fuk-nes Dave "pigs in space" Langhoff who usually climbed in mountain boots for an extra challenge. He probably led it on hex,s also because he was... more >>

Comments: The route name suggests a level of childishness almost akin to the DLFA, note I said "almost". It should be noted that Pete C. never had a problem with us. he mentored us,watched us become young strong climbers ,he enjoyed climbing with us and hanging out and partying with us. He even would let us hang at his house and get jacked and bivy and puke all over his yard. As for Mr. Toproper,s(aka Alex A.)animosity towards the Dlfa one can only surmise that it was based on jealousy of our good looks,g... more >>

Comments: I noticed on Saturday March 2nd that the knifeblade has now been replaced with a new one in a new location. Hopefully it is better than the old one (it must be). Was this pin and the one off T2 and the other pins that have recently been removed off routes in Eldo part of a sanctioned ACE activity? Peace, Steve S
