Comments: Okay, set ya straight for the Humphrey's Dome.

You can still turn off CO Hwy 126 heading southwest-ish on FR 543, but there is a gate after about 1-2 miles and is closed, i.e. LOCKED. There are also some private property/homes along the way up to that point. There is a 'parking area' just after turning off CO Hwy 126 (aka Buffalo Creek Rd.) and another at the gate, but I have not chanced to park there, since it is close to a residence and there was no signage. Hoof it in or ride your bike. You ... more >>

Comments: After revisiting this topic and seeing Allen's reply, I did some further interneting and found out the name is Bell Rock. No other info could be found as far as routes, etc.
Remains to be reconned first with a polite chat with the neighbors then a close up look if allowed.

Comments: Ahhh yes, the land of Dick Cheney !
Lankin is very cool as are the other formations nearby.
Don't forget to stop and ck out the old Oregon and Mormon trail wagon wheel ruts still visible !
An adventurous area for sure. Be cool with the ranchers et.al. and your good to go.

Comments: And so with this knowledge of chopped bolts:
What would it take to redo the old routes and possibly put a few other routes in then?

Comments: What I find ridiculous is that given the amount of other, way more picturesque camping spots near here, a dirt parking area at the gate fence of a road is quite the grunge spot. Geez, that these guys choose right there to begin with wreaks of idiotism. If it was staged photo, o.k., but if this is truly legit, then these guys are boneheads.

Comments: I question why the Sheriff is enforcing this (if it even is a true reg. there) and not Open Space rangers? Or was a slow day and he just had an argument with his wife?!?

Comments: I got a few areas /routes that could be added into a new guide. Plus some good ol' buddies have been doing some pickin' deep in the Platte. I can pry the info outta 'em if I have good incentive.
Let me know....

Comments: Quintessential Croatia here. Only time I've ever seen water more clear was in the ADK High Peaks and Greece. This park is real unique with numerous waterfalls. A Unesco World Heritage site and totally protected. It must have been 95 the day we went there and with all the no swimming signs it was pretty depressing UNTIL, back at the little electric ferry dock I hiked off in the woods to take a quik leak and heard girls frolicking and the sound of splashin waters. Called the gang over and a short ... more >>

Comments: Has been a favorite of mine from way back. Done numerous times with 'guests' from out of town to get them into Eldo lead climbing. After the first few times, I started doing the 'directtisima' straight up the crack to the roof and continue straight on to the ledge. This line is a hard 5.10 and really gets you going with the footwork.
A good route.
