Comments: Don't let the comments scare you. The chimney is not bad at all (when dry) and protects everywhere (crack in the back). Right side in, hit the jug, switch sides (left side in)and pull out.

Comments: Don't overthink the bottom start. Get a running start and hit the jug below the crack. Best done in approach shoes. Undercling is 5.7 at most. When in doubt, follow the path of least lichen/black granite!

Comments: The bouldery start of the second pitch was really fun, pretty wild. The wideish crux on the first pitch pro's very well. You get a good look at Haystack's roof from this guy.

Comments: Use small cams for the thin lieback. a .3 camalot and a .5 for the roof crack works fine.

Comments: You ever feel the need to place a stopper on the route?
Or are they better left at home?

Comments: After finishing up with the first pitch, look straight up and slightly to the right for the obvious wide crack going up into a roof. The crack is hell to get into with a shoulder sling and wants to swallow #4's so dont place it too deep. Step up onto a large edge against the right side of the crack and inch up until the edge tapers off. Jam your left knee in the crack, stepping on the angled chockstones inside, and throw for a perfect hand jam at the apex of the crack. Use the jam to mante... more >>

Comments: Route protects extremely well
Meanders to the climber's left via a system of cracks before and excellent hands finish near the top.
A #4 protects at the very end, but it's easier to simply go up and over the easy finish and set up a gear anchor. Save #2's and #3's for the anchor.

Comments: Go to the very top of the route if at all possible. This involves pulling a small roof followed by a bigger crack to the top of snowshed wall. Use the tree up there to belay your second as there are no bolts and it may be too far to lower from the tree unless you have a 70m rope with your buddy standing on the big ledge to the right of the crack.

Comments: Definitely harder than a 5.5

Protects better than a PG-13 as well.

The airy traverse is wild! DO NOT GO STRAIGHT UP ON THE TEMPTING DIKES AFTER PITCH 1! Grab the space between the legs and step out onto the cracked and sparsely vegetated wall. A better route than many would say it is, IMHO. The crack variation to the right of the Bear's Reach line is good-to-go.

Comments: Fantastic climb with the crux arguably being the thin crack at the start
