Comments: With a 20ft drop off the ledge behind you, the first move held my attention. The 60m rope gets you to the ground, not the ledge on the top of the boulders, and you could also easily scramble from the ledge down.

I really enjoyed this climb. We we're basking in the sun yesterday and dodging falling ice. Gotta love Colorado.

Comments: Harder than the offwidth next to it. The awkward move is right above the chock stone. Don't slip!

Comments: Joshua, I made that mistake too (thinking it was Stone Age). I was thinking the whole time this is a very stiff 5.5 but was also aware of the history of the area. I agree it's a 5.7 though. The pro is pretty good and the climbing is great, so I just shrugged it off and enjoyed it.

As it was the first time we climbed this, we belayed above the neighboring bolt anchor on a trad anchor in a nice alcove before topping out. There are options to set up a belay just below (trad or bolt) or above the ... more >>

Comments: The climbing is very straightforward. The pro on the lower half of the route IMO is not good enough to promote this as a beginner trad lead. If you lead sport confidently, then maybe. If that was the case, I think the excellent Moby Grape (easy 5.7 and great pro on 11 Mile Dome) with its fixed anchors is a better option than even Staircase (Arch).

Comments: 1st pitch is great, good pro and fun climbing that's on the easier end of 5.7. 2nd pitch is of little interest, it's 5.2 bath tubs and jugs with a couple of 5.4 moves, that meander across the top half of the crag. Unless you want to practice working with a second on a (semi) hanging belay, just do pitch one and use your time on one of the other fun routes. Towards the end of the second pitch beware the hangerless bolt studs sticking out of the rock. They are a major trip hazard and it's on terra... more >>

Comments: More than balance required and not a place to learn basic crampon technique. You probably didn't walk up far enough.
