Comments: You really need to bring back that picture of you TRing the boulder problem in a chest harness. That thing was classic.

Comments: Best to pay it no mind Benjamin. I've seen this Snupe character at some of the local crags. He's just a negative guy that takes out his frustrations with his lack of climbing ability out on everyone else. He probably couldn't send Unusual Suspects and came here to vent. I think he's also one of those young earth creationists, so your whole bit about the earth being 4 billion years old fell on deaf ears.

Comments: John's smoking choss dust, this thing isn't over .11a even by soft Malibu standards.

Been thinking about doing this one for awhile, just to tick it off, but it looked so terrible. It actually has some pretty fun moves on it and decent-ish rock.

Comments: It sounds like you're going straight up from the third bolt instead of traversing the little roof left and throwing up to the holds on the other side of the arete. Perhaps it's a little contrived, but it's a 30 foot "route" that is basically a boulder problem with a bit of fluff at the start and end. Going straight up would pretty much bypass the bulk of the route.

Comments: > Caught Inside - as in you can't get out to catch the set (of waves).

Slight correction - can't get out before you get dumped on by said set of waves. Usually at the point of getting caught inside catching a wave isn't the predominate issue on mind.

Comments: More fun than you'd think looking at it. Couple big moves on big holds. Easy tic for the grade, IMHO.

Comments: Agreed on the onsight crux. Disagree on the quasi-undercling breaking; it's just not as positive now, still totally usable. I'm undecided on the me being an asshole thing.

Comments: Fun route, good warmup. But very inconsistent. Mostly 5.10- climbing with one move at the top.

Comments: I'd call the crux higher up than the bulge, but YMMV. There's a strenuous sidepull/highstep on a sharp pocket-like gash. I broke an edge off it so it's not as positive as it used to be - oops. Didn't alter the move any, just doesn't feel quite as secure.

Regardless, fun route that stays consistent throughout. One of the better routes at Tick.

Comments: It has nothing to do with supporting or not supporting the shop, it's the way in which it was done. Is there heavy competition with another climbing shop in the area? If not, then what's the issue, climbers usually go to climbing shops when in the area.

Adam could have easily just said 'There's a local shop in the area that has printed out guides, just stop by and they'd be happy to give you one' and none of this would have been an issue. Who would print out a hodgepodge of online writeups w... more >>

Comments: So either put up a page in the routes database explaining where the area is and the routes, or keep it off the radar. But don't play this game of "Hey, check out my super secret mega awesome fun time area. Wanna go? Yeah? No. First you gotta go to the store and buy stuff". If you don't believe in Mountain Project, in having an open source where we can go and learn about new areas, that's fine. The discussion about Guidebooks vs. Online has been done a thousand times, no need to rev... more >>
