Comments: Boulderbum,
It's not out of sheer ignorance. The Vermonter who was with Sherman on the day of the send has misremembered the name and told the story repeatedly with the "Green Egg" name. Simple misremembering of something that happened years ago.

Comments: Does anyone have any more info on this area? Is there anything developed here? What is the potential?

Hoping to get down there next weekend.

Comments: Just to clarify location, when standing with your back to Freezer, this is the boulder to the right. Walk around the right side of the boulder and The Rooster is found on the north face.

Good problem, but pull and stand lightly on the large jug/ledge halfway up.

Comments: Not a bad job with the map. A couple of notes:
Red Eft sits just off the trail.
Blue Hole is downhill and right of Maritime.
Triple B is left of Maritime, closer to the AT than Maritime, off in a valley of its own.
Mini me, Birds Nest, and Pig are all left of Fat Bastard, while swamp is down and a touch right.

Comments: John F

Haven't seen freezeus respond to a post I made either, so I'll give you some beta:

Start at the Spring Sliding Boulder, plenty there for your girl and Leaf Peepers Hate Spring for you.

Then Red Eft Boulder-Red Eft for her, Jamaican Lager for you.

Then head to right ridge area, plenty for her, Sloper Slapper and Heel Hooker for you. Return to Invisible Boulder and do Peg Board. Then back to LT and Dirty Crack Boulder. You do Dirty Crack, and she does Stinger Mantis.

At the Wester... more >>

Comments: If you're short and have a negative ape index, this climb requires good foot work, a lock off on a crimpy pinch, and a long reach for the top. Very fun.

Comments: Lot's of ways to do this one. The most natural line seems to be using both aretes, avoiding the face holds, and topping out right. Fun problem.

Comments: Freezeus-can you post pictures with the lines on it, so I can figure out if I'm doing an existing problem or a new variation?

Comments: When one gets on the rock twice in a season, one wants all the credit one can get.

Comments: "Rocky",
I've a hard time believing we have FA's in this area, as it's so obvious from the Roots boulder. I'm waiting for someone to speak up. If no one does you'll get full credit, you media whore.

You guys are going to surpass the Smuggs and Bolton possibilities really soon.

Are we looking at schist here, or something else?

IIRC, Troob got the first ascent, and named it in your honor because you showed it to him.

Comments: Can you post a picture with this problem? The holds you mention are very specific. I did something on this face last year, but would like to try this new variation.

Comments: Is there a way to organize this area by boulder?

I'd like to add some of the lines & variations that didn't make it into Kemple's guide. but organization by boulder would make it much easier to find the lines.

Comments: The natural line on this is more like V0. Using the pockets is contrived, since it's easy to go straight past them without using them,.

Comments: Jon,
Are you claiming this as a recent first ascent? This boulder has been climbed on for at least 10 years. I don't think you will find many new FA's under V6 anywhere in the Upper west Bolton area. There is a clandestine guide book dating back to 2001 that documents ~60 problems in this area.
The boulder you're talking about is known as Stream Boulder and has 3 problems on it:
Streamside Arete V0 left side of the arete
Streamside Dyno V3-dyno from quartz on the arete to a horn

Comments: This needs a serious cleaning. It would then be a beautiful beginner problem.
