Comments: Nostalgia alert: this was my first climb and probably has been for many Boston climbers over the years. To my 13-year-old self, this wall seemed gigantic.

Comments: Best route in the East.
Would have been happier with two green aliens or the like for the second pitch instead of just the one.
Also, going right then up at the start of P5 looked very unlikely. Going straight up was very hard and reachy but only for a couple of moves until you reach a nice horizontal break.

Comments: We did the penji free. Felt like 5.11+/5.12-. It's only a couple of moves, but they are reachy and hard. Best crack route at Frey.

Comments: matthewquirke:

You should have no problems with ash if you do head up to Frey. I just got back to the States after two weeks in Bariloche. Stayed up at Frey for 10 days. Some days were completely ash-free, some days it looked like Los Angeles on a smoggy day. The ash did not affect the climbing at all, however. There was no buildup on holds whatsoever. As far as I know the ash from this volcano is not corrosive, and not thick enough in the Bariloche region to cause any respiratory problems.

Comments: M Sprague, I added Delaney's Arete and gave it 4 stars because it's an area classic. The position on the arete and the climbing are great. It was also contributed by a badass New England/Colorado climber back when 5.11 was a testpiece grade in the region. It doesn't get the traffic it deserves, while the routes right next to it get toproped to death by huge parties. Please climb it and see what you think!
