Comments: Right on, Chris! The first time we tried this thing it was so full of moss and dirt that we couldn't even protect it. The last two trips we cleaned a lot of it up, and it will def. go as a rock route. I'm most excited for the thin crack crux on the 3rd or 4th pitch though, which could go at 11+, I think. We left a few pins on the route where gear is hard to get.

Bring doubles of hand-size for the first pitch, then plenty of small stuff for the harder pitch up high. Hit me up if you want a partn... more >>

Comments: Super fun line, some of the funnest pitches I've done on Pike's. Once this cleans up a little, it will make a great summer rock line as well. The Park has Two Dragons... well on Pike's we have Three Dragons!

Comments: Just for clarity, this formation is above the Crags TH, which isn't Pangborn's Pinnacle.

Comments: Well said, Noah. My hope is that bolts are used sparingly if at all on the Dark Side.

Comments: Good to hear, Steve, maybe Wellborn and I will get our courage up enough to give it another go! The lower gully looked to have some ice last weekend.

Comments: Lost a camera at the base of talisman last Saturday. I'm sure it's under 10ft of snow by now, but if by chance you find a red camera, hit me up. Thanks

Comments: Hi Kevin, why would you need to access this from the top? Or feel the need to establish anchors for this purpose?

Just curious

Comments: This route is a great addition to the Dark Side. We found every pitch to be time consuming due the wet snow, and that the route is new enough that the climbing and gear placements are definitely not obvious. Each pitch was fairly sustained and thought provoking. Just keep moving and trust that you'll find something....

The last pitch through the chimney definitely makes this a big-boy route! Props to the FA crew. Very runout, but the chimney gives you some security.

Comments: My new fav line on the Peak, but maybe I'm a little biased. I thought the crux was the off-width section at the start of our 3rd pitch.

Comments: This route is nowhere near three stars. Contrived line to CHIPPED holds. Compared to partners or apple, this is a bomb. Sorry man, but I couldn't recommend this climb to anyone.

Comments: Great topo, Stich! especially for as confusing as this route can be. The crack to the left is a good 5.9 alternative as well.

Comments: Props for a sick line Mr. Russell. Loved every bit of it. This one has a little of everything, from flaring cracks, steep shit, and thin slab. Got the on-sight, but barely. It had me shaking.

Comments: There are two simple solutions to your rope drag problem.

1- back up the bolt at the lip past the manta ray with a bomber cam, and top rope from there.

2- back up the third bolt above the manta ray with a triple length runner around a bomber horn. TR from there.

The last climber simply climbs to the top anchors and cleans the route.
