Comments: I just climbed this route again today and noticed a 3rd bolt on the first pitch. It is a Leeper hanger and 1/4" rawl drive 10-20' above the 2nd big glue in bolt. It had been a while since I last did this climb but I had never noticed this before. Has anyone else noticed this? Is someone adding old bolts to routes? I thought this was strange.

Comments: I climbed the Bandito Route again last week. A fun roadside distraction. I just wanted to post that the FIRST BOLT is VERY LOOSE. It is spinning in the hole and should be considered suspect. If it blows and the belayer has no belay anchor (as I have witnessed, Unfortunately) the outcome could be grim.PLEASE USE AN ANCHOR ON THE LEDGE. This is a short easy climb but a fall from the ledge to the parking lot would suck.

Have fun, be smart.

Comments: Just climbed the route this weekend (04/12/03). Pretty cool.It is mostly a bolt ladder of varying ages of bolts/pins. Some of the fatter bolts are sticking 2-4" out of the rock it looks like they were placed this way kind of weird. They worked though.Bring 12-15 rivet hangers mostly big cinch hangers will work best.RP keyhole hangers worked well on some of the 3/8 studs. Also bring a few 1/4 & 3/8 coarse thread nuts for the occasional bolt missing its nut. Some of the old homemade hangers would o... more >>

Comments: Climbed Hessie Chimney 12/16/02.The first pitch was in climbable shape. I guess fat for this climb. A one-foot wide ribbon of ice being 1-6" thick runs almost the entire length of the chimney. The ice was very inconsistent. Some parts great others rotten and hollow. I placed only two stubbies the rest were pins and rock pro.

The second pitch didn't look to be worth the effort, it had a small section of ice up high.

Get this one while you can!

Comments: Climbed it on 12-8-02.The ice is in good up to the final pillar. Then it is hollow and rotten but with great frozen moss for the top out.

Comments: Climbed on 11/3/02, on mostly stubby screws. The ice is 6-2" on the upper section bellow the pillar. We did the mixed exit from the cave going out left, as the pillar did not look all that solid. Lots of dripping water.

Crossing the creek was the crux. It is half way frozen. We walked a fallen tree down stream from the normal crossing.

Give it a couple of more weeks to fatten up for it to be really good.

See a current photo listed under the route description.

Comments: I Climbed Hidden Falls In RMNP today. The Ice is thin and cauliflowered. Mostly stubby screws. The pillar on top is touching but did not seem so solid. We did the little mixed finish going left out of the cave. The river is not frozen completely. We had to walk a dead tree down stream from the normal crossing. The trail is all snow, but snowshoes aren't needed. We skied all the way in on nice snow. In a couple more weeks of COLD weather it should be in really good.

Comments: This is way fatter than I have ever seen the Avocado Gully.

I wonder if this is not a picture of something else. The top of this pitch goes right and there is a wall up there that is not in this shot. Hmmm....

Comments: The ice is In nice and fat. The pillars still need a tad [thickening], but are under way.
