Comments: The line of bolts farthest right is an unfinished line bolted by Jim Knight that is "not safe" until completed.

Comments: (Cue evil chuckle from Darren...)

It really is right around .10a, but the key hold isn't immediately obvious from below and the crux is fairly sequential for a .10a.

(I didn't onsight it, which for me is unusual at this grade. I'm sure once it's all chalked up it'll be a bit more obvious.)

Comments: I climbed this sans flake (see here) and the difficulty was pretty much the same. There are a couple of pockets and sidepulls where the flake used to be.

Comments: Drive into the Little Mill campground. The rock is quite obvious on the right side of the road.

You can easily see the .10b from the campground road.

Comments: Noted.

.11c is about where I start whining and crying; I just didn't find it that hard.

I gave it a .10d because I found it easier than Send in the Frowns, which I thought was around .11a (although since you'd already told me that Tim rated that one at .11c that's what I put that one down as.)

Comments: The photo was taken in April.

Whether there will be too much snow or not is entirely hit-and-miss, depending on the weather. Utah in April can have 12 inches of snow drop one day followed by 70 degree temperatures the next day.

Comments: As I climbed this line the handholds were covered in dust and grit and I kept knocking off bits with my feet, causing my belayer not a little consternation. The rock quality was atrocious, even by my admittedly lax standards.

At the fifth bolt I looked up and could only see a bolt 12-15 feet ahead. I looked in front of me at the rusty head of a bolt of unknown length and its rusty old SMC hanger, seated in rock of dubious quality. I contemplated a possible 20+ foot fall...and chickened out.

Comments: jsnstwrt, you misunderstand the motivation behind the reluctance to publish information. It has nothing to do with money.

There are four men who between them have developed equally the vast majority of the routes in Santaquin. I know three of the four, although only one well. My knowledge of the situation comes from him.

Two of the route developers wanted to publish the routes in a future guidebook and two did not.

The motivation for not wanting to publish the information is, as I u... more >>

Comments: I should note that in Tyler King's original list of the Blue Walls routes in the area description this route was listed as a .10c.

If you can hand jam it isn't that hard.
