Comments: A better option to start the escape from the top of Comic Relief buttress is to rap from the first station, swing over to the opposite wall and the scramble up to the knife-edge ridge. It's really easy to do, and there is no need to rap all the way into the gully. The escape goes in only a couple pitches, and you could probably scramble the whole thing, although there are a few exposed/heady sections. Be careful with rope drag. This should deposit you just below and looker's left of the campgrou... more >>

Comments: I still liked this variation, but we definitely need to go back and do the original. I guess I didn't really get a good look at it.

Comments: The PG-13 rating is mostly for loose rock and runouts through first bit of pitch 2. Should be back soon to trundle some stuff. First belay is somewhat protected from rockfall, but heads up and definitely bring helmets.

Comments: Unfortunately I haven't encountered any route names, grades or topos but this is a good site for some more pictures of the area:
chileclimbers.cl/?p=6751
On the other hand, cracks are usually a lot easier to judge (for me at least) than face climbs as far as grades go and besides, I find it much easier to push myself when I don't know what I'm climbing (ignorance is bliss?). Embrace the adventure!

Comments: Due to the VERY dirty nature of the crack I'm fairly certain it has not been ascended prior to our visit
