Comments: Okay, I think I've got it figured out. Per an old Colorado Bouldering guidebook, by Phillip Benningfield, I found the following: the beta photo for Victoria and Seduction are spot on, Kinky's page is misleading though, as the photo is actually of the problem Seduction, I think. Also, both of the problems that are called Ted's and Kinky share the same sit start on the west overhang and climb through the two-finger pocket, then Kinky finishes to the left and Ted's finishes to the right. I'll try t... more >>

Comments: Can someone do beta photos for Victoria, Seduction, and Kinky? I was playing around on these the other day, and I couldn't discern where these problems start and end. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Comments: Sounds good, and best of luck, Brad! Definitely not my problem though. I saw a few people send it a few years ago, way before I could drag my butt around that lip ;). Don't remember their names, I think they were from the Rifle or Roaring Fork area? Anyway, I thought it was a good one, and thought it deserves some love!

Comments: I've included a link to a blog that I found both interesting and relevant considering the Late Bloomer area is attracting more users.

Comments: Thanks, Brad! Used a completely different method. Went with the crimp high and out left for the first move instead of the one directly over the start holds.

Comments: There is an SDS for this problem as well. Adds some mileage to an already stellar problem.

Comments: The Chiseled Arete Boulder has been torched. It looks like someone had a bombfire directly below the southeast arete. Unbelievable! Not sure how this will effect the holds on the sit starts, but I would imagine they're more friable now.

Comments: Rock experts,
I've always been curious about Nine Mile's range of rock quality. From what I understand, it's Dakota sandstone. But when I consider how different the rock is, it just doesn't make sense to me. For instance, the rock quality at the Texas Boulders is nothing like the rock quality of the Chinese Boulders. Is this just a natural range of Dakota sandstone in general or is there something else to it?

Comments: I have a guidebook that shows an unnamed, V7 problem which ascends the center, north face of Striped Rock. After many attempts and failures to climb it, I'm curious if anyone has any beta or information on it.

Comments: I haven't sent a single problem on this boulder but not from a lack of trying. Nonetheless, the boulder is a true classic of the canyon, so I thought I'd post it and let those who have previously sent or those who will send in the future to add the route descriptions, input, and stories.

Comments: The second line from the left is Post War Dream, I think. From what I remember, that would best fit the V2 grade description. But honestly, I'm color blind myself, and the line looks green to me ;)!

Comments: For all purposes, following the arrow in this picture will lead you to the Pink Floyd Area. However, the actually foot path that leads to the area lies just past the large boulder in the background.

The path is roughly another 30 yards further down the dirt road from what is indicated in the picutre. Just keep your eyes open for two large stones and a well worn foot path on your left hand side.

Comments: I had completed the stand start this summer and knew the sit would go but opted to wait for cooler temps as the moves are friction-dependent. Anyway, sent the full line today by adding a sit start which involves some fun compression moves on perfect slopers. In my opinion, this increased the problem's grade, and more importantly, the quality.

Comments: A few years back, on my way out to the canyon, I was the first to come across an accident that had just occurred in this pullout. A semi-truck had lost its brakes coming down Nine Nile Hill and rolled-over into the pullout trying to make the corner. I literally missed the accident by a few seconds.

Luckily, the driver managed to avoid harming himself and the nearby boulders ;).

Comments: No worries, Brad. I was slightly confused, and I was more or less just trying to distinguish the two. The dyno looks like a lot of fun anyway!
