Comments: Top rope is possible here from some decent sized trees, but it is a little bit of a downclimb from the trail and is pretty steep with a lot of mud at times. Make sure to anchor yourself to a tree while setting up.

Comments: Two 4' slings seem to work pretty well for me to set up my toprope here. Clip one to each of the anchor points and bring them together with 2 biners and they are very well equalized to the direction of pull when you are on the rope and pass over the cliff edge nicely so you don't wear or cut your rope.

Comments: I really enjoy this little state park for its climbing, especially because it is so close to Iowa City/Cedar Rapids. It can get pretty dirty and stay wet after a rain, but such are the challenges of climbing in Iowa. I put up a beta photo of the Outlook recently that might be of some help to get an idea of the area. Also, here is a partially finished book in PDF format about bouldering at Palisades that I ran across. Enjoy! www.geocities.com/midwestclimber/pal/Palisades_Kepler_Bouldering.pd... more >>
