Comments: Anyone know the problem in the center of the south face, to the right of Gill Face and left of Southeast Slab? It's just two crimpy moves to the topout.

Comments: I think 8 of us did this problem yesterday. Those who could hand jam made it look easy that way. The rest of us just crimped and pretty much threw for the next right hand hold. Course we had 5 spotters and 7 pads so falling wasn't going to hurt. Really fun climb.

Comments: I agree with all the above comments. Last climbed here 7/21/08 and most of the routes seem in good condition. No one shot at us nor was their evidence of neglect to the hangers or anchors. Good line, some jugs, some crimps, mini-roof, it's got it all.

Comments: First, nice climb. Crux for me was just above the first clip. Though, I tried to go around right rather than up the crack on the left.

A word on rope length. I have a 70m and it will not allow a full rappel to the deck. Either double rope rap down or tie stoppers on one rope, rap to the chains at the top of Gumby Cats, reset a rap there and finish the rest of the way. Good luck.

Comments: A great climb! Don't siss out and take the juggy way around the crux though. I'm not a strong outdoor climber and I agree it doesn't feel like a 5.10d so don't be afraid to give this one a try. Very difficult to clean the draws being lowered though so consider having your belayer follow up and clean and rap off the top. Have fun!

Comments: My climbing group figures this slab is open, though the path on the opposite side of the creek is closed. Catslab side has a For Sale sign on the wire fence, but there is no indication that you cannot climb at the slab. Anybody want to buy it though?

That said, a great place to take beginner climbers. Four routes under 5.10 makes for a nice day for the inexperienced. Make sure you do take someone who can lead belay though cause there is no approach to the top. Check your rope lengths as we... more >>
