Comments: Bring a #5 to protect the first chimney. I was very happy to have it. After that, it's fingers forever!

As for the midway anchor, it was in great shape. Definitely agree that climbing the route in one pitch is the way to go, but that definitely takes a lot of gear.

Comments: Great climb, Kev! If you're a little squimish about the high first bolt (even if your not), a bomber nut can be placed before committing to the face.

Comments: I think the rating depends on the recent bird activity in the area. If it's poopy..., 12a or maybe harder (depends on your tolerance). If it's clean, 11+ seems totally fair. With that said, it might be best to climb this route in the early spring, since the pigeons are just coming back and it had the winter to get cleansed with snow.

Great route.

Comments: Wow, Buzz Kill!

I had no idea about that Andrew, but from everything I can find you're right.... Sucks, there is no signs at the trail head stating otherwise, but it looks as if DMP's don't allow climbing in any parks... Granted bouldering is not really climbing right ;)

I'm deleting all of the pics and route descriptions. Sorry for the tease, all!

Comments: Thanks for taking the initiative, Keith! Most people just complain about the biners and expect someone else to replace them. Thanks for just replacing 'em.
Cheers

Comments: In regards to the tyrol:
This should be taken down ASAP. Jeffco Open Space does not allow tyrols with the exception of the Mission Wall tyrol (which was grandfathered in). Whoever put it up, please take it down (if the Open Space hasn't already), so we can keep a good relationship with the Open Space.

The approach only takes 5 minutes without the tyrol anyway.

Beta wise:
From the rail, I'm a little fuzzy on beta, but I remember a really crucial left heelhook that allows you to suck in really ... more >>

Comments: Huge thanks to who ever replaced the bolts, did some anchor upkeep through out the route, and added an anchor at the top of the wall. You even used glue in's :) You Rock!

I second the not rapping the route. Waltzing down in flops was most excellent!

Comments: Did you go to the second Corwina Park parking lot????? There is a small bridge that you cross right next to a house to pull into the lot. It's a smaller parking lot than the first entrance. From the lot, there is only 1 trail to hike.

Comments: I've always overlooked this route because it was a "linkup", but it climbs super well and stays very sustained at 12a/b. I think 12d is very far fetched, since there are no moves harder than say 12b, but the sustained nature certainly adds a letter to that. Really fun!

Comments: The left facing flake at the top is gone! I hope no body was around when that thing ripped off, it was huge. The top of the climb is harder now and a #4 camalot is needed to protect the finish.

Comments: I replaced the last bolt on this today. Went up to replace the hanger only, but once the bolt was out I thought it was too rusty for me to want to re-use it.
  • As for the Loose Block down low, the left side is fully attatched and solid, but the right side is dangerously loose. Fortunately you can easily avoid the right side.

It's hard to rate this route since there are 2 sit down rests.... I'd say 12c if you use the rests, and 12d if you fly by them.
