Location: CA : Yosemite National Park : Yosemite Valley : Middle Cathedral Rock : East Buttress (5.10c) By: M.Morley When: Aug 23, 2008 | view comment >> |
Comments: Climbed this again yesterday as six rope-stretching 60m pitches, involving a wee bit of simul-climbing and a couple of hanging belays. A 70m would allow you to climb the route comfortably in 6 pitches with more options for good belays.

Comments: I went about half way up this route to retrieve a rope that managed to get snagged on the rap off Birdland. Looked like a nice line.

Comments: Thank you, Ron. Unfortunately, it looks as if the originals for this one might have been wiped out when my hard drive crashed a while back...bummer.

Comments: I used "Autostitch" to make this. Unfortunately, you lose resolution when stitching photos together. If anyone can recommend a better program to use to maintain the resolution, please let me know and I'd be happy to upload the higher-res version.

Location: CA : Tahoe Vicinity : South Lake Tahoe : Lover's Leap : West Wall : Hospital Corner (5.10a) By: M.Morley When: Jun 25, 2008 | view comment >> |
Comments: It is possible to get off the route with a single 60m rope, but requires a bit of trickery. Probably best w/a 70m.

Comments: Pitches 1 and 2 combine at 185'. Pitches 3 and 4 combine at 198'. From there, a short final pitch (~50') leads to the top and a straightforward walk off.

Comments: Just my opinion. Of the 100 or so Valley routes I've climbed to date, this is just not one I'm anxious to jump on again. Again, just my opinion. Glad you liked it though!

Location: CA : Central Coast : Hwy 33/Ojai : Wheeler Gorge By: M.Morley When: May 25, 2008 | view comment >> |
Comments: While not a destination area in and of itself, Wheeler Gorge is a pretty fun crag to spend a half-day if you happen to be in the greater Ventura area. Bring a dozen draws and watch out for poison oak.
