Comments: Wow, there are some angry, closed minded people out there still. Not just in this area of course. James has done a remarkable job of artfully, thoughtfully, generously (time, money), skillfully, openly and always with personal climber safety in mind, created multiple fun climbs in the entire northeast Okanogan County area. Why is McLaughlin Canyon so special that it should be hidden from the entire world. I agree that it is a wonderful and beautiful place. The Trad climbs are beautiful(and shoul... more >>

Comments: FUN climb! Mixed up climbing from slanting ledges near the bottom to sustained vertical straight up face and a little stemming higher up. I very fun climb. Sun in the morning.

Comments: Another sunny climb. The climbing for the first 3 bolts teach you to trust your feet (not a lot of hands). After that a mix. Good climb, near the parking area so a good warm up starter for the area.

Comments: Fun climb with sun most of the day. Like most of the routs around here, they are well bolted and have been brushed clean, Thanks to the ones. The last 20' of the arete can be done three different ways, good cracks both on the inside and face of the arete or climb the arete using your imagination and both sets of crack systems. Worth doing.

Comments: Gneiss area. Short approach on grass until you get to the wall. Faces nearly south. Very well bolted. Needs to be climbed more to clean it up. Well worth the trip if in the area. Look for a new pass-trough in the fence and follow the trail. Good FUN!

Comments: Looks harder then it is. Very vertical but Gneiss Jugs. There is good holds and footing for every move. Well protected. Wish it was 100' longer! It is a blast. Gets sun all day so should be able to climb on any sunny reasonable day.

Comments: What the heck are bolts doing on this wonderful, easily protected climb. How dare someone put bolts in a climb that has been climbed hundreds of times with just stoppers and Friends. I haven't climb it in a while, obviously, but it should never been desecrated with bolts!!! If you can't climb trad, you have no business defacing a climb of this caliber so you can clip you draws. Shame on you! Go bolt some limestone somewhere.

Comments: Great hands for ~30' then some awkward moves on so-so rock. The hand crack is worth the shortness. Great warm up!
