The new stairs will provide safe access to the West side routes of GMW for generations!! The "C"- team put in some serious OT on this one! and thanks to Julia Geisler(ED SLCA) for bringing it home to the Uintas!!

Comments: Yes! Good climbing on good rock. Bolts must have been added since this route was posted. I didn't place a single piece of trad gear. It is all sport, as it conveniently states in James Garret's new West Desert guide book. Thanks James!

Location: UT : Uinta Mountains : The Recess By: Blake Summers When: Jul 7, 2011 | view comment >> |
Comments: There is a newly fallen tree in the recess. It lies near the old one though it rests at the top of Ups and Downs. Top notch and ups and downs are now well blocked from climbing. Maybe, over time the tree will clean up. Ha.

Location: International : South America : Peru : Huaraz By: Blake Summers When: Jun 24, 2011 | view comment >> |
Comments: No doubt, Kurt. The above description definitely doesn't do the place justice. Huaraz is THE hub for trekking, mountaineering and climbing in the Cordillera Blanca, Negra, and Huayhuash. Ridiculously sick mountains all around Huaraz but be clear, Watch out for those Cows!

Location: UT : Uinta Mountains : Ruth Lake : Memorial Wall : Skyler's Arete (5.11b) By: Blake Summers When: Aug 8, 2010 | view comment >> |
Comments: Tried this last year. Whipped before third clip. Pulled my girl up to 1st bolt and came inches from decking. My buddy lead it today. He got up to where I whipped last year, looked down and noticed draw on second bolt wasn't clipped to bolt??!!!???!! He calmly clipped the third bolt and was again protected. Phew! Another buddy, another time almost decked here, too. Fun climb though!

Comments: Much fun! 1st ptch is exciting as rock is quite lichen covered, seems solid enough though. Well protected, Thanks James. 2nd ptch is easy enough climbing but slim picking for gear placement.
