Comments: Via the ASCA, most bolts/hangers have been updated (SS) on this formation by myself and Matt Clark some years back.

Comments: The FA of this is not UKN as it was me that bolted it and us that did the FA.

Soo, myself, Cho(?) and Blitzo.

Comments: For clarity:

The Doug Thompson listed on the first ascent is my son Doug, not Doug Thompson of the Hostel in Lone Pine or Whitney store.

We did it in 2001 or 2002.

Comments: No need for a rivet hanger. The bolt is gone.

There are a couple of bolts that could use a little help. But they still work.

Otherwise, fun as always.

Comments: Davi,

yes! The newer routes are out in the "n00b central" area. Blitzo and I did them just months before he split.

Comments: Once you're on it, you're almost done. One minute climb, three minute walk off. LOL!

But a fun little climb none the less.

If in the area, worth a go.

Comments: This climb is one of the last three FA's that Blitzo and I did together. Just a few months later, he was gone. That he had it in him to do even this, never ceases to amaze me. He was one tough dude!

For the record.

NOPE! Not a FA.

I, and I would assume many others, have TR'd the hell out of that formation.

More than enough placements. Not sure how you could see it otherwise.

I did the FA on a TR with Tim and was not involved in bolting this route.

Comments: "Are you guys putting random bolt ladders up blank faces because you're bored"

To answer more seriously:

Couldn't find any places to practice. Found a hidden, out of the way little spot and put in a couple of "Ladders" to practice on (for all to use and enjoy)

The line that this comment is attached to is combo Ladder/free route and is a fun line.

Have you done it? If not, give it a go, you might like it.

And sorry about suggesting that I bolt your Mom. It is a rather disgusting idea... more >>

Comments: It's a fun variation.

How about leave it until the flake busts loose? But don't intentionally bust it because it adds some spice to the line. Then if it is still doable (probably safer), decide then?

Regardless, I support your decision.

Edited:

You just want the hangers! LOL!

Comments: I put that single anchor up there many years back for my for my son.

Myself and a couple of others (Mostly Blitzo) slammed in about 95% of all the hardware out there. There were a couple of existing routes, no anchors (I added those), the rest the routes until recently we did.

Last year or the year before Steve G and Alan B went out and put up another 5.9 on the backside of one of eastern formations.

It's a fun little place to mess around.

Comments: ^^^

That's true. There are three "Buttonheads" on top back a little ways that we used "Keyhole" (Moses) hangers on. If you don't have "Keyhole" hangers or "Wires", you could rig it with nuts.

Isn't the most secure rig to TR from. LOL! But it works.

BUZZ!

WRONG, C4 breath! (LOL!)

It's on Yucca Mesa between Hwy 62 and Aberdeen. I pass it often on the way home.
